  1. This resulted in what is called an “ALPR’s Hit” of a stolen vehicle. The City of Torrance have Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras installed at some intersections. Those cameras can detect stolen or wanted vehicles that are driving through the streets and they’re monitored by the police department. So if a stolen/wanted vehicles passes through the ALPR in a specific intersection, the police are notified by dispatchers that they have an “ALPR’s Hit” or “A L P R Hit”. Heard this on the scanner. Great job TPD!
