Serial Police Impersonator Accidentally Records His Own Confession

Florida Statutes 843.08 — FALSE PERSONATION

“A person who falsely assumes or pretends to be a firefighter, a sheriff, a deputy sheriff, a police officer, [. . . ] and takes upon himself or herself to act as such, or to require any other person to aid or assist him or her in a matter pertaining to the duty of any such officer, commits a felony of the third degree.”*

Jeremy Dewitte has long since pointed to the law’s requirement that one ‘take it upon himself to act’ like a cop, correctly stating to anyone who will listen that his appearance alone is not a crime in the State of Florida.

With this brief video, Jeremy Dewitte might actually regret his habit of recording everything.

Probably not, though.

*Many other positions are listed in Florida’s false personation statute. To keep things focused, they have been omitted from the quoted text.

  1. It's kind of sick he just has to pretend to be a cop, or fall over dead. As a Floridian I would never mistake these weirdos as cops. I would however report them the instant I saw them "acting as if".

  2. Does FL not have a way to check if a Co is self insured or not? I had to have an account that could not be drawn down below $100.000 and a statement from the bank that it is as is (was back then). They can (could) check on it at anytime one of the truck or vans were pulled over.

How does Metro State afford to be Self Insured

  3. He swears this isn't him, just as hard as he swears he never touched that girl in the club, or was she a family friend, or his little niece. Either way he didn't touch her, well he gave her hugs and kisses but she was like family

  4. When he says "we just stand here and act as if". Reminds me of Paul Blart. We turn our right hip away and put our hand on our hip as if we have a gun but we all know we don't.

  5. I’d love to see a Netflix doc about JDW. Problem is, I’m afraid it would no doubt create a huge number of dipshits who will turn him into some kind of anti-hero and form a fan-club, inevitably followed by some bullshit hashtag campaign.
