Suspects for Commercial Burglary Pattern in the 35th District and Cheltenham Township, Pa [VIDEO] – Blotter

Northwest Detective Division is investigating a commercial burglary pattern that has developed in the 14th District, 35th District, and Cheltenham Township, PA. This pattern is based on victimology, description of offender, and modus operandi.

Incident #1:
DC# 22-35-004292
NWDD # 22-0882

On January 24, 2022, at 4:00 AM, three unknown males gained entry to a business located at 6200 N. Broad Street by smashing out a side window. Once inside the suspects broke into multiple gambling machines and the registers had been forced open. Also taken was four rolls of lottery tickets, cigars, and cigarettes. Surveillance video depicts the suspects using power tools to open the machines. Total estimated loss was approximately $21,000.

  • Suspect Description:
    Suspect #1:
    Black male, 20-30 years-of-age, old, 6’0,” medium build, wearing a black cap, black mask, black coat, dark pants and sneakers. Used a black and red mallet and power grinder.
    Suspect #2: Black male, 20-30 years-of-age, old, 6’0,” medium build, wearing all black clothing, and a black mask.
    Suspect #3: Black male, 20-30 years-of-age, old, 5’0”, medium build & complexion, wearing a black hoody that read “Stop Hating,” black sweatpants, and tan boots.

Incident #2:

Cheltenham Police #2022-01631

The unknown offender is a suspect in the burglary of the Elkins Park Auto works located at 8100 Old York Road, Cheltenham, Pa. on January 24, 2022.

  • Suspect Description: Black male, wearing a black ski mask, glasses, plaid jacket, and black pants.

Incident #3:

On January 27, 2022, at 7:00 PM, owner of the Royal Meats Market located at 1619 Wadsworth Avenue stated that sometime overnight his security system showed that an unknown black male attempted to pull open the rear door to the business by attaching a tow cable from the door to a vehicle and attempting to pull it open. The suspect is also seen using a blue colored crowbar as well.  The door was damaged, but no entry was made.

  • Suspect Description: Black male, wearing glasses, black ski mask and all black clothing.
  • Vehicle Description: Gray/silver Toyota minivan with tinted windows and an empty front plate bracket.

Incident #4:

Cheltenham Police #2022-01931

On January 28, 2022, at 4:00 AM the Cottman Mart located at 541 Cottman Avenue, Cheltenham, Pa. was burglarized. Just prior to the burglary a van matching the one pictured in the photo was captured on the store’s security video driving past and then behind the store. The electricity was then cut off to the store, which disabled the security system. Once the suspects gained entry a large amount of scratch off lottery tickets were taken from inside. The below depicted males, occupants of the below vehicle, were inside the store on January 23, 2022.

Incident #5:

Cheltenham Police #2022-02485

On February 4, 2022, at 11:40 PM, an unknown black male entered the foyer of the Santander Bank located at 8080 Old York Rd., Cheltenham, PA. using an ATM card and then used a key to gain entry into the bank. Once inside he attempted to force open a safe using a blue crowbar with negative results.

  • Suspect Description: Black male, wearing a black ski mask, glasses, dark plaid shirt and black pants.

Incident #6:

On March 2, 2021, an unknown black male was captured on video surveillance pulling into the rear loading dock area of Hmart grocery store located at 6201 N. Front Street driving in a black Mercedes-Benz. The suspect exits his vehicle and uses a large crowbar to break into the rear door of the store. A few minutes later the suspect then drives away in the same vehicle leaving the area without taking anything.

On March 2, 2022, at 2:45 AM, an unknown black male gained entry to the Front Street Deli located at 5501 N. Front Street by breaking the side door.  Once inside the and after a brief time the store alarm sounded causing the suspect to flee the building.

  • Suspect Description: Black male, wearing a black ski mask, glasses, dark plaid shirt and black pants.
