Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved-Shooting (OIS) that occurred in a valley community late Monday afternoon.

On August 19, 2019, around 4:19 p.m., LAPD, uniformed patrol officers, assigned to Mission Division, received and responded to a “Family Dispute” radio call for service at the 13100 block of Ottoman Street. When the officers arrived at the location they met with the person reporting, who directed them to the suspect (later identified as) Carlos Torres Jr. The officers encountered Torres on the front porch and attempted to speak with him. After several minutes of dialog, he stepped back into the residence as he removed a concealed handgun from his waistband. Torres then pointed the handgun at the officers and fired at them, which precipitated an OIS. Torres retreated into the house and a few moments later he was seen running through a neighborhood yard and onto Ottoman Street. As Torres continued to run west bound on Ottoman Street, a second OIS occurred.

Torres then ran through a residential property on Ottoman Street and into the rear east/west alley of that location. A responding Foothill Division, Gang Enforcement Detail unit, saw Torres in the alley and stopped their patrol unit at the mouth of the alley on Arleta Avenue. Torres again raised his handgun in the direction of the officers, at which time a third OIS occurred. Torres collapsed in the alley and was taken into custody without further incident.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Torres deceased.

A .22 caliber handgun was located at scene and recovered as evidence. Fortunately, no officers or innocent bystanders were injured during this incident.

  2. I don't get it, does it really take that many shots to stop a so call perceived threat. With. I swear as God as my witness you can't tell me that man was putting you life in danger. W he at a coward. How many bullets do you need to kill someone or stop your perceived danger. I'm so glad your ultimate judge will see through your BS and God doesn't recognize qualified immunity. Nothing but a blue thin line gang member. You weren't happy until you shot every bullet in your gun, with complete disregard to control your twisted view on cops. Take off your clown suit, turn it in along with your badge. You are one of many discussing humans who don't care about life. Unless it threatens your gang. The thin blue line. I'm angry for almost two years even though it's been going on for 400 years,

  3. And none of us hispanics crying in the streets about another police shooting of a hispanic man. Why? Because we know our people and we know that we can do stupid things like this guy did and get killed for it by the cops.

  4. Cop: So what's going on? Dad: Well, we can't get in our house. Cop: Why not Dad: Cause he's like telling us this and that. Cop: Did he tell you this or that? Dad: Well he said that and then this. Cop: are you sure he said that first or did he say this first? Dad: What? Cop Yeah, this.
Dad: No, that. Cop: That what? Dad: he said that. Cop: he said what? Dad: no he said that not what. Cop: Did he say this or that or what? Dad: I'm outta here.
