Judge Clifton Newman slammed Rita Pangalangan and her ex-boyfriend Larry King before sentencing them for the hot car death of Pangalagan’s special needs daughter Cristina. “Left the child there to die while they’re pursuing each other,” Newman said. King was sentenced to 32 years in prison, while Pangalangan received 37 years behind bars.

  1. Had I woken up the morning after this happened, they wouldn’t need to put me in prison, I would “punish” myself . I couldn’t live with myself. No excuse for this happening. 😢😢😢😢

  2. I'm no mind reader, but I suspect that she feels more sorry for herself as a convicted felon than she does about what she did to her daughter.

It's really hard for me to sympathize with her. Who the heck gets high on meth when taking care of an infant or a disabled person?

  3. I give that judge credit for being patient and looking at all the details before pronouncing sentence. That takes A LOT of effort and time. Another judge wouldn’t have done that and just been curt and sent them to jail. The judge let her talk repeatedly before pronouncing sentence where another judge would’ve told her that she had her opportunity and wouldn’t let her say anything further. I’ve read where judges have done just that. There aren’t any excuses for their actions.

  4. Does she really not realize not doing drugs that makes it worse for her? No normal, undrugged mother would leave her child in a hot car for 6 hours!!!

  5. Both accepted their sentencing so calmly without any emotions because their intent was for the child to die.

  6. She's more upset about being accused of doing drugs than she is of being judged for killing her daughter. And no one uses meth for the first time at age 53. Her boyfriend is a meth user!

  7. The only nutrition the child had was Kool-Aid and pediasure – the mother never took the time to feed her, it was too much trouble. So it is very clear this mother was had fallen into a way of acting that constantly put her disabled child at risk. The guy who couldn't keep his hands out of his pants tossed her in upside down into the car and the mother knew and closed the car door and walked away. Six hours later, the mother tries to open the car door. And no the car was not on.
