The parents harsh parenting style help lead her into murdering them. The harsh parenting style probably lead her into dating a drug dealer too.
Not making excuses for her, but as a child from an immigrant family, specifically the same ethnicity as the suspect, I do understand her feeling the pressure from her parents. In our culture, it’s normal for your parents to carve out what THEY want you to study. You’re expected to have a certain level of success with a career path that they chose for you. You’re frowned on and looked at as a failure if you do anything different.
I don't feel bad for her parents. They had it coming. Stop pushing your kids to succeed. Education is a joke. You're a horrible parent if you push your kid to get good grades

The Jennifer Pan case happened in Markham a suburb just outside of the City of Toronto this was shocking to see on the news a tragedy is what it is really.
I see a lot of comments about how she was abused by her parents demanding so much from her, however, she could of just left her parent's home and ran off with the boyfriend. She decided on murder instead. I wonder if her brother had been there, would he have been another victim?
She most likely thought there was some financial benefit.

Dang I don’t know about murder, she should have just took off and disappeared. But I do have sympathy for her situation. Kept like a prisoner, not allowed to develop properly and also develop your own unique personality. You cannot parent that way and she probably became resentful, full of rage and exhaustion and fear from trying to be the perfect child and the realization that you failed.
This isn’t a typical child tantrum or neurotypical young lady and I can’t stand hearing these so called experts talking like she was a spoiled brat who didn’t want to take out the trash. That is abusive parenting. If you are just going to come to America to escape your twisted government and continue your own country’s political radicalization then stay there where it’s a way of life and keep your radical ideology out of ours!
She was a case who felt like she was against a wall. It’s a shame she thought that was the solution and she didn’t seek support if that was even possible. Cause and effect. She went insane and I bet dad has no regrets for his old world radicalism because that family didn’t have opinions or feelings or uniqueness. You just followed orders from the top dog and then pick the worst way to throw a tantrum. Ugh.

Jennifer NOW knows what "REAL CONTROL" is having the prison tell her everything to do. She complained her parents were controlling & oppressive as the reason for hiring the killers.
She will be up for parole in 2040 but I'm hoping it's denied!
