Ex-Cop Gets Sentenced For Slamming Drunk Handcuffed Woman

Jacob Cannon, formerly with the Ormond Beach, Florida Police Department, was just convicted of felony battery for slamming a highly intoxicated and obnoxious woman (who was handcuffed behind her back) during a DUI arrest processing. During the sentencing hearing, the judge played the video in open court, heard the testimony of the (now sober) victim, as well as the testimony of Cannon himself, who begged the judge for mercy, claiming mental illness, his family, as well as the provocation of the victim, who was verbally abusive during the arrest. This is a rare instance of accountability. But was the sentence enough?

  1. The actions of both police officers and the lack of action on the judges part is absolutely DISGUSTING!! I completely agree with you that the sentence was showing favoritism on the part of the judge! She should be fired and not allowed to practice as a biased judge!! In that one act on the part of the police officer caused permanent damage to the womans face, her self esteem, her ability to trust another police officer and probably suffers from PTSD because of what this officer chose to do!! I am soooooooo TIRED of seeing favoritism when it comes to upholding the law I guess the law as its written is not set in stone based on all those who get away with Shit like this officer! I do not trust the government! I do not trust the president no matter who it is, I certainly do not trust law enforcement or the rich!! There are just no words to describe how wrong all this is!!

  2. We have a law here in Canada called criminal breach of Trust and it can be applied for many different crimes and what it says is when you can trust it with something whether it be power or money and then you use that power to commit a crime it is worse than actually the crime usually. For example if you steal from somebody. It's one thing but if you are trusted with the same thing and then steal it it's way worse

  3. That female cop should be in jail too, for aiding and abetting, and laughing as this dirty cop violated the prisoner's civil and constitutional rights. She never tried to stop his criminal behavior…

  4. That orange outfit looks good on him would it be appropriate at least 2 years or better for this blue line constitutional violator 🤔🫡

  5. Omg 😢 boo hoo wtf the cops puts so many people in the same predicament as he is and the judge never gives breaks to citizens 😢😢😢😢

  6. First of all, yes, he was given special treatment by the judge. She went out of her way to make sure he had “something to say.” HE SHOULD BE HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD THAN EVERYONE ELSE.
His apology was as emotionless as it could be; he wasn’t sorry for what he did.
Female cop should be charged with not reporting a crime.
I think his wife and kids will live a lot happier while he is in jail for his measly sentence.

  7. 1 – he did it
2 – he lied about it
3 – the other cop covered it up
4 – we are all saddled with self restraint for the best interests of ourselves and our families
5 – it looks like he also smashed the breathalyzer – I wonder if they got it fixed and re calibrated?
    6 – 6 months sentence is a joke

  8. Regardless of the popular opinion about this incident. This lady is a piece of shit. She got drunk, ran her mouth, and dragged someone else in the mud. Listening to her sob story made me sick.

  9. Im trying to treat you the same i would anybody else under similar circumstance in a similar situation. Soooooo kidnapping with intent to do bodily harm? I mean how many normal citizens abuse handcuffed individuals…. usually we get some harsh charges.

  10. How many other households were financially destroyed based on his actions? How many car repossessions? How many people couldn’t afford to get a car out of impound? How many evictions? How many people who couldn’t afford one had to lawyer up? How many?? 😠

  11. Cannon by Name

    Cannon by Nature

    Common by intent

Why should Police get special prevlege?

    Rule of Law

Equal Subjection of All including Officials Public Servants Police

  12. So what his lawyer is saying that he was unfit to be a police officer from the start.
And this should never have happened.
He should have got at least two and a half years plus probation of two and half years probation.

  13. Here's an unpopular take, take it for what you will. Is what he did wrong? Yup. But watching a lot of body cam footage and almost every time a police officer is spit on, punched, kicked, headbutted, had weapons pulled on them… the prosecutor dismisses any assault on a police officer or battery on a police officer charges. I would guess 80% of the time, there is no accountability. And where is the accountability for this loud mouth woman? Driving highly intoxicated, refusing to do the tests, playing games, being extremely verbally abusive for hours…drunk or not, she is just annentitled, childish, trashy individual. She was given several "timeouts" to calm down, and continued to be more and more vile and beligerant. I don't agree with the judge that "it's your job to deal with abuse as an officer". No, it's not. It just turns out that way because no one holds criminals accountable for their behavior. If someone claims PTSD as a reason for committing battery on an officer, there is sympathy all day long, charges dismissed or pleaded down. If a police officer has PTSD, no leniency is given. He was wrong for throwing her down and covering it up, but loss of his career, anger management and time served would have been sufficient. As for "he is held to a higher standard"…bs. He is human like anyone else. I'm pretty sure Mother Theresa would have slapped her after two hours of that vile nonsense.

  14. I think cops should get worse penalties because they are trusted in operating their power lawfully cause we know if any normal person handcuffed a drunk and slammed and assaulted them while defenseless they’d get a minimum of years in jail lol

  15. So it’s his first offense but he must have multiple charges?!
So if I kidnapped (handcuffed), assaulted (slammed into a chair), & lied about what and how it happened (fraud/misleading authorities); all while in a legal position of power. But that’s a first offense?!
