Bangkok is a booming metropolis of over ten million people. Deemed by many travellers as the ultimate destination, Thailand’s captivating capital also lays claim to a darker statistic: one of the highest crime rates in all of Asia.

It’s this shadowy, more violent side of the city that the filmmakers set out to expose. Amongst their observations: corruption. Widespread and deeply ingrained at every level of society. It’s so routine that many Thais see the bribes and ‘gifts’ they are subject to pay as a kind of unofficial tax, a simple way to try and make life easier for themselves.

This documentary was produced by Keep Shooting and directed by Guillaume Martin and Grégoire Deniau. It was first released in 2014.

  1. Wherever Africans migrate to apparently they are forced into crime…. by racism… and it’s always the host country that’s at fault or alternatively western people. because historically they had a lot of prejudice btw the rest of the world did the same. also western people have been promoting diversity very heavily, but it doesn’t seem to really help. HAHA You have to be taught this story from a very young age to believe this BS. Or just maybe, it’s the other way around, and African culture has issues with crime, and treating them like victims doesn't help anybody
