  1. The cashier needs to be trained. The cashier should have let them know about the item can not be sold, that store has to ship the item back to warehouse and tell them sorry for the inconvenien. Stores would normally have policy on wrong priced items. But the store has the right to not sale items if they choose to do so. They could've been avoided with the right training.

  2. We are looking at the down stream effect of the doorman fallacy. Self Checkouts allow this behavior. They knew what they were doing when they bought the discontinued item for a penny, the store knew what it was doing when they switched to self checkouts to pay the C Suite more. Civil matter no charges IMO. If you don't want people to steal, start using checkout clerks again. We are short on jobs because automation. And not having a checkout verifying prices needs to cost the store more so they can hire proper amounts of staff to keep money circulating in the community. Fun thought experiment.

  3. Literally the cop is on their side from the get go, but this couple won't let the officer speak. That's wild LOL The couple gets an F and the officer gets an A. And that couple isn't 1A auditors.

  4. If they already paid it is what it is. However, had a cashier noticed during the transaction, it would be fair to correct it. I worked retail growing up and our policy was to correct scanning errors over 50%.

  5. I’m completely in the corner of you exercising your right to leave a voluntary police encounter, but these people are treating the cop like a pig when he just got there and he’s being reasonable. In my opinion, this kind of behavior is the source of the further trouble. This could be a 5 minute interaction and the cop peacefully lets you leave, or it could be a case where the police are incorrect and violate rights. But the interaction has to play out. These people are inviting violation of their rights by being unreasonable in their interaction with a reasonable officer of the law, and assuming the worst of his involvement in a situation mere seconds after arriving and treating him with contempt.

  6. Once you pay for an item that item becomes your property no matter if you only paid a penny for it or not. This manager wanted to make sure they didn't get it for a penny, like it's coming out of her pocket.

  7. With all due respect I give the auditors a B they wouldn’t even let the cop talk when he showed and kept running their mouth I get they are pissed but they just make it look like they’re are being provocateurs

  8. Jim Jones from Dipset went through this exact same thing at Home Depot either this month or last month. It was determined that Home Depot has a policy that the customer pays whatever it's marked as. I'm this case, I don't think it was marked as a penny and the price error at the register isn't an advertised price. Still, it's not theft.

  9. Well… it seems they both knew the price was incorrect. The store employee said "they need to pay the correct price". Still was able leave with the product. Light skin
    Privilege + Scammers = F-

  10. god home depot sucks, as a former employee I would recommend never shopping there, if you have any problems I promise you that the employees mock you… I was unfortunately drinking their kool-aid at one point and I sure as hell made fun of plenty of customers both to their faces and behind their backs(to their faces was only for the worst of them though)

  11. This is the risk these stores take by using self check out.
a cashier can catch this before the transaction is completed and correct it.
But they thought a cashier was too expensive.

  12. How did you record this overview and not look up home depots policy on penny items. Its not a pricing error , they mark things down over time and eventually it reaches a penny, at that point employees are supposed to take it out of where customers can get it (the back or top shelf) and then if they dont and a customer gets it they have to sell it its her property. You are framing this like its an error and if they knew about it it could be theft but its not a fucking error.

  13. Asking for a cops supervisor when the cop is being extremely professional and leaning toward your side, is stupid. Let the good cop do his job, ask for a supervisor when a cop is being a douche.
