He has been in bars for nearly 5 years, and plus the need to think straight who would kill 2 best friends not MELLY. He treated them like brothers. There is a video that someone called him when he was at the funeral of the person who has been killed in the drive by shooting.

If after 5 years nobody has taken a plea or tried to testify on one another I think that is a big piece of evidence that this case was the police targeting melly and it was actually a shooting at either traffic light or stop and or vehicles in motion.
