‘That’s Just Hearsay’: Alex Murdaugh’s Lawyer Dragged into Testimony by Slain Wife’s Sister

The sister of Alex Murdaugh’s slain wife Maggie took the stand and testified in the disgraced lawyer’s murder trial Tuesday outside the presence of the jury. Marian Proctor said Murdaugh’s attorney, Jim Griffin, allegedly told her about Alex’s financial crimes. “That’s just hearsay,” Griffin said in response, which prompted laughter from the courtroom.

  1. wow they really don't like these questions, means there's a whole lot more to it, Jim won't even sit down he's so uneasy, this goes to the heart of Alex argument that they were in love, I would say they were the opposite of that.

  2. OK they are very touchy about all issues about fidelity so I think there were issues that just never came out, I mean they weren't even living together anymore. I don't think her sister knew much about it.

  3. Jim saying what he said tells you what kinda liar he is. Yeah it's hear say in the classic sense but he knows he said it. It's inflammatory because Jim wants the jury to think Alex was this great husband and father. I don't think anyone really knows AM.

  4. Alex blew his own son's head off, and killed his wife, Alex knew he was in trouble, Maggie and Paul found the pills in the computer bag and the boating accident., Alex was going to be in even deeper. Alex caught stealing from the firm and fired, I believe Alex became very angry in top of it all. And knew everything going on in that town Maggie knew Alex was doing something or she wouldn't have been snooping thru his stuff. . Alex greed cold as ice.

  5. I’m sure this is my legal ignorance of this question, but I was just wondering if an attorney can ask a witness whether or not they believe that Alex murdered Maggie and Paul? From the testimonies and their facial expressions, and the fact that they are witnesses for the prosecution, it appears to me that Maggie sister, housekeeper, and the mother’s caregiver believe he did.

  6. The Judge is a biased and unprofessional one. Judges should not be creating a laughing story in court and even less admitting 15 yrs old issues. In the end the case will be tossed away due to such as well as the AG being a Mickey Mouse one and the defendant attorneys being below par. I am sure the case will end up in a high court.

  7. What woman wouldn't be deliriously happy with a criminal who stole millions from clients, had numerous affairs, and had a drug addiction for 20 years? What a prince – sounds like true bliss

  8. Why is the prosecution asking about events that happened 15 years ago? Because they are losing this case, and they know it. They have no concrete evidence against Alec.

  9. A man finds his wife and son brutally killed. He isn’t worried for his remaining son? He isn’t worried for his own safety, that the murderers expected him to be home?

  10. This judge is extremely bias in favor of the prosecution. So much so, that he has allowed hearsay to be entered in front of the jury multiple times.
Anyone with a bit of common sense will see there will be massive grounds for appeal for a multitude of reasons.

  11. Jim Griffin wasn’t “dragged” anywhere. He did a triple twist VAULT right in the middle of her testimony. And stuck the landing. None of these lawyers have a clue how to shut their mouths.
