What Western people don't understand is that it's actually tough for teenagers from South Asia (also asia idk) when it comes to their studies. There's so much pressure put up on us by our parents and the theory is that 'you can only succeed if you pass your exams and get into a university. THERE'S NO OTHER WAY'. Even the examinations here are tough cus it's not broken into units. We have to cover up an entire syllabus of two years and sit for a single final exam. Also we don't really rely on therapy or counselling. If a child gets bullied here, it's not something serious and there won't be any counsellors in schools or our parents won't try to put up an appointment to meet one. It's basically how it works here. It's the culture i guess.
If i become a parent someday i want to build up a very close relationship with my kids especially with my daughters. i want them to be able to talk to me about anything like best friends ( like american moms and daughters) i'd let them take any path they want in terms of subjects and future careers. There's honestly so much i want to do to change these things.

Me and my mom don’t have a good relationship at all. I am her least liked child. Both my parents hate me and blame me for all their problems in between them and in life in general. They blame me for my sisters addiction and fcked up choices. But I also raised my siblings and kept the house in tact while they were constantly gone.
