Sandy Smith’s feeling that her son, Stephen, was murdered was validated after receiving a phone call from the chief of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Smith and her lawyers announced that they would ask a court to exhume Stephen’s body so an additional independent autopsy could be performed. Stephen’s 2015 death was ruled a homicide just weeks after the Murdaugh murders trial shed light on his cold case murder. The Law&Crime Network’s Angenette Levy spoke with Smith’s lawyers, Ronnie Richter and Eric Bland, about the call from SLED Chief Mark Keel and why they believe Alex Murdaugh’s conviction might make those with information about Stephen’s murder feel more comfortable coming forward.

If the person who did the autopsy believed the young man, Steven Smith was killed by some type of vehicle, and yet the police did not believe that to be true why was there no further investigation back in 2015? Does that indicate that members of the law-enforcement unit were intimidated by the influence not very wealthy Family in the area?
Is it normal that families must raise funds for a murder investigation in America ?

If the 'law' is trying to get you to NOT do something, like exhume the body, then you probably need to exhume and investigate why they don't want you to exhume the body.
Five people dead. Two of them from that same family. Local and State Law Enforcement can't be trusted because of their connections to that family. I think the FBI needs to investigate and bring them all down before they get someone else killed.

Apparently that evening there was a baseball game or practice at the school so I’d love to know each and every boy on that baseball team where they were and what they were doing after the game on their way home. And I wonder if Stephen Smith if his injuries are consistent with being hit with a bat? !
Technically, a hit and run is still a homicide as far as an autopsy goes.
