Bodycam footage shows an Ohio man turning himself in for “accidentally” shooting and killing his female friend on March 26. Fifty-eight-year-old Brian E. Mason calmly confessed to shooting 57-year-old Michelle L. Elliott while he was allegedly showing her how to use a pistol. Miami County deputies later investigated the scene and found Elliott dead from a gunshot wound. Mason was taken into custody on the spot and arraigned on a murder charge on Tuesday, where he pleaded not guilty.

  1. Brian Mason, who fatally shot a lifelong friend while showing her a gun he said was for her protection, was sentenced Monday to eight years in prison.

Mason, 58 and a former Miami County resident, was found guilty by a county jury in the March 26 death of Michelle Elliott, 57, at her North Montgomery County Line Road home in Union Twp.

  2. This is very unfortunate. If it was an accident he should have immediately called for an ambulance and the police. Being scared is not a defense. He ran away from a crime which is a crime in itself. This was probably a murder.

  3. Deputy WITH A LOADED HANDGUN, sits down next to an uncuffed person who just said he shot and killed a person. As a retired Corrections Officer, im freaking out right now. WOW!

  4. Update:
Judge sentenced Mason to three years in prison for reckless homicide, three years for the firearm specification and two years for having a weapon while under disability. The sentences will be served consecutively.

  5. He got 8 years for this. He was not supposed to have any guns due to another charge he has restricting him from having firearms. He also pawned other guns that same day he turned himself in which is probably why he drove around for almost 24 hours. It does not look like he cared about her death as much as he cared about what would happen to him.

  6. Naw it was intentional, he talked about how she was a horrible drunk to be around, was squatting at her place, if it were an accident he’d called 911 immediately imo

  7. He was being cooperative and not showing aggression, why didn't they just put him in a police car and have him direct them to where the house is?

  8. He showed her how to use the gun by pointing it at her chest??? Maybe, just MAYBE, every person should not be packing….
Homeless guy she gives work to, now being all rational Mr. Nice Guy – now it's all about HIM being scared !?! No worry over her at all.

  9. PLEASE do NOT believe all the posters on this video, especially those stating he confessed to killing her out of jealousy. Simple fact is he accidently shot her. However, the Judge ruled that his actions were reckless and that he had several guns he was not permitted to have and under all the circumstances sentenced him to EIGHT YEARS with credit for the 148 days he was in jail pending trial and sentencing.

If anything, I think it's a great video for NOT talking to the police without an attorney. He should have arranged to turn himself in through his attorney. May have spared him from volunteering information that led to a longer sentence.

  10. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he forgot the gun was loaded but why would he not call 911 immediately?

  11. yes he didnt call 911 but how is one of the reasons for his arrest reckless homicide because he did it on accident whilst showing her a gun

  12. I appreciate that both the officer and the suspect remained respectful and relaxed throughout the entire process

  13. Dude – you do NOT talk. Be very respectful and accommodating but make a single statement – "Sir/Mam, something has happened that's extremely concerning and I'm turning myself in. I need an attorney before speaking to you or anyone else." Then, take a deep breath, turn around and be prepared for handcuffs. By the way, this guy was sentenced to eight years in prison for felony reckless homicide with a firearms specification.

  14. All my arm chair investigators, you think he's lying? Or being truthful about it being an accident. Personally I think she was a hooker. They developed a type of relationship. He got mad over something and put her out.

  15. He could have left the state without a trace, but maybe he was just tired of being homeless and living in his car. I guess he looked at his circumstances and came to the conclusion that living in a prison is better than being homeless.

  16. I’m sure this LEO was thrilled to go back to the station to grab something out of his personal vehicle or locker. He wasn’t planning on this preliminary homicide report as a walk up.

  17. If I “accidentally “ shot my friend I would immediately call 911 freaking tf out…obviously everyone is different BUT in that circumstance, the only reason I wouldn’t is if I wasn’t an accident or had more meaning behind it..

  18. Anybody else think it’s extra sus that he has to keep telling everyone “I’m on”?? Like they are a department accustomed to being shady and crooked, 🤔🤔. You shouldn’t have to tell anyone that, you should be professional at your job at all times.
