A man in Owensboro, Kentucky accidentally butt-dialed 911 by pressing the emergency button on his phone’s Lock Screen. Then, some of the most constitutionally ignorant cops I’ve ever shown on this channel, arrive at the guy’s front door. He tells them it was a butt dial; that he’s alone in his house and there’s no emergency. But sensing something other than complete and total submission to government authority, the cops claim they smell marijuana, stick their foot in the door, and detain him without a warrant. Even worse than that, they tell him that they’re about to come in his house – also without a warrant, just due to the alleged smell – just completely disregarding longstanding and clearly established constitutional law saying that they can’t do that. He asks for their supervisor. But when the supervisor shows up, he’s even worse than they are.

For one Police have to check on a hang up call. I am pretty sure they tried to call the number back and he did not answer which means police have to go to location. They get to door and dont know who this guy is who will NOT identify himself, or prove that is his house so how are police to know if this guy is resident or someone who broke in and the actual resident is dead, or being held inside if this guy will not give them any information. Police are allowed to lie to if they feel a crime has been committed. Again how are they to know this is actually the person who lives there. They question the about the Marijuana to get more info to find out who this guy is. How do they know if that kid didnt kill his step dad, and could be dead inside the home. I butt dialed 911 once when I was mowing the lawn. The operator called me right back , I explained what happened. No cops , no problem . only because I live in an area where the cop to resident ratio isn’t like rural Kentucky.

Any citizen can read the law. I do. I have the entire annotated code ever since cops snuck into my totally enclosed yard, then threatened to bust up my windows and doors to gain access to my Kids apartment fully attached to my main house. I made sure I filed a complaint against the violating County cop and State cop. I asked for a warrant and they said they didn't need one. Oh yes they do. So they resorted to threats to damage my property. The cop was illegally inside my totally fenced yard by jumping the fence. What if I had a personal protection dog and went to let the dog out. They would have shot my dog illegally. Then they would meet the real bitch in me. I requested a meeting with the chief and while I was waiting in the lobby, the Chief snuck out the back door and left me sitting there for over 2 1/2 hours. Know the law. Read it and print it out if necessary. I do.

On a scale of 1 to 10 this is like a 2 compared to what happens sometimes. He didn't up up in jail, losing his job or being branded a criminal by an arrest. What the cops did was wrong and they shouldn't be in uniform but this kind of thing is common from police officers, cps workers to inspectors. This such high bar of qualified immunity needs to end. The punishment for this should be the department having to pay for retraining , 5k to that guy and a public apology.

The only thing that saved that kid from getting drug out of his house and beat down was the fact that his uncle is apparently a big time somebody of a lawyer in that town and they knew he would have made life difficult for them if they had given in to their emotions and done what they normally do to people when they get butthurt over being told no. At the very least, they would have used some BS excuse to arrest him.
