Alex Murdaugh’s lawyer objected immediately after a former law firm colleague testified the disgraced lawyer texted her about his rehab visit in September 2021. “This is a bridge we have to cross at some point,†prosecutor Creighton Waters said after stating that Murdaugh’s alleged drug use will come up in future testimony.

I was also wondering where the money went until I heard him make a phone call from jail where he bet on a football game(s) and bragged to his son Buster how he won 2 beef sticks bags of Doritos, Potato chips and on and on which made me think he was an experienced Gambler, his deceased son had ADHD, I think Alex Murtaugh had it too with the obsessional behavior in his life!
Isn't this ALL about his character or lack of? If he were stoned out of his gord on pills, that should be known. Either side could use that info to their advantage. I don't understand the judge.

I still think the murderer(s) were hiding on the property waiting for Alex to leave and are related to Alex owing money to cartel or some other group being that there has been a history of associations with trafficking through the properties and islands they owned on the coast of South Carolina, or even possibly some angry clients whose money was missing or related to the death threats Paul had been receiving. I still don’t see how it would be possible to completely rid your skin, Hair and nails of all human matter and gun shot residue from up close shootings and in a matter of an hour he supposedly threw a cell phone, hid clothing and weapons and completely cleaned all traces of residue and dna even though he spent the hour traveling 15 minutes both directions to his moms, waited outside 5 minutes for the caretaker to open up and 20 minutes laying with his mother and he was on business phone calls during the same hour. It’s just impossible to completely rid yourself of all traces of dna and residue in that little time especially with proof of all of the other things he was busy doing. The killings were also very brutal like a cartel style. He may even know who did it being that he said “they did him so bad†but too afraid to accuse them or implicate himself in trafficking.
Hooked on bull, and will lie, steal, and cheat anyone for money. Even delete his own family that doesn't go along with his plan.
Mr Murdaugh (papa) died on June 10th just 3 days after Maggie & Paul's murder, did he know, was he "conscious" to know about that!?? They have all said that Maggie & Alex's papa were very close! That probably finished him off!? So very sad!
Only watched bits and pieces, but seems he may get new trial if convicted cause they are bringing up so much unrelated stuff.

That one little question on cross earlier in the trial, has allowed all this prior acts testimony. What a big mistake. The judge originally ruled against this. But the defense "opened the door"
A thief and a drug addict does not make a murderer. This motive is weak in my opinion. It's kinda weird that the state puts up witnesses whom have been completely and royally f'd over by Alex, but they still can't say he was an awful person who hated his family. Did anybody else notice that Alex hired so indiscriminately? His paralegal, his house keeper and his mother's home health aide were all individuals that are probably discriminated against on a daily basis. It just doesn't all add up to double murder. He could have sold just one of his homes and fixed his financial unraveling. Drug addiction (especially opiate addiction) is so rampid in this country that most individuals have some level of sympathy for drug addicts because everyone loves someone affected by our country's opiate crisis. Alex may have even been able to get friends and family to help him get his life back on track. Killing your child goes to a whole new layer of evil as opposed to stealing money from millionaires.

I mean I think any reasonable person watching this trial will come to the conclusion that he’s guilty of murdering his family but the things that have been allowed in this case that have everything to do with the next trial that he will be undergoing, may be the things that get this case overturned on appeal… Allowing all of his financial crimes to come in and allowing all of his drug use evidence to come in is a big mistake and could uproot any conviction that he gets(introducing prior bad acts, introducing character evidence, evidence that’s highly prejudicial more than it is probative)… He has another trial for the financial crimes and all of that they should take that up then and don’t even bring any of that into this case because you really don’t need it there’s enough evidence otherwise to convict him

My ex was addicted to opioid he sometimes pd 10 a pill had pot belly he would take 30-40 a day bad habit lots of money that’s why we divorced but Maggie saying something in terms of him not sleeping and getting rest sounds more then opioids opioids usually don’t keep you up at night

drug addiction isn’t to establish character, but it can change behavior by reducing inhibition, which goes to support the case and refute the defense that he was such a likable fellow, just high.

The state has no case. No hard evidence has been found. All the comments on here are laughable. In what way has the state proven that be murdered his family. Circumstantial evidence is all they have.
