Florida Deputy Tases Suspect Trying to Flee on Stolen Motorcycle

Summerfield, Florida — On October 21, 2025, Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) received an anonymous text to 911 advising that a man wanted for theft, 27-year-old Patrick Ortwein, arrived at 9625 SE 160th Place in Summerfield on a motorcycle. While en route to the home, Deputy Peguero confirmed that Ortwein had a felony warrant for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle. Deputy Peguero and Lt. Winston arrived at the location and observed Ortwein attempting to pull out of the driveway on a motorcycle, at which time they boxed him in to prevent him from fleeing. Ortwein failed to comply with commands to surrender, so Lt. Winston successfully deployed his taser. As he was taken into custody, Ortwein actively resisted arrest, and the struggle knocked off Deputy Peguero’s body-worn camera.

He was ultimately restrained and found to have a suspended license and be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Further investigation revealed that the motorcycle he was driving had been reported stolen in a separate case from the vehicle theft related to the warrant. The motorcycle was recovered, and he was charged with the additional Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle. As deputies were placing Ortwein in a patrol vehicle, 51-year-old Darrius Reid was observed trying to remove items from the scene, including Deputy Peguero’s BWC. Lt. Winston gave commands for Reid to drop the BWC. Reid initially refused and began to retreat but eventually complied. He was placed under arrest for Petit Theft and Depriving an Officer of a Means of Communication. Reid was also out on bond for Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting Arrest. Ortwein and Reid were transported to the Marion County Jail, where they remain.

    If people say "get off my property or stay out my yard" its more likely that they have to hide something that is in their house somewhere. The US have so many missing children cases, so just saying
