In a shocking case of apparent police misconduct, Tayvin Galanakis, a freshman football player at William Penn University, has filed a lawsuit against three Iowa police officers and the city of Newton following a controversial DUI arrest in August 2022. Bodycam footage from the incident reveals a disturbing scene as Galanakis, who had blown a 0.00 on a breathalyzer test and successfully completed sobriety tests, is forcibly placed under arrest. The video captures the 19-year-old’s disbelief and outrage as he shouts, “Dude, I blew zero!” while being handcuffed and taken into custody. The footage has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious questions about the officers’ actions and the potential violation of Galanakis’ rights.

After being released later that night, once further tests confirmed his sobriety, Galanakis took the brave step of sharing the bodycam footage on his own social media accounts. The video quickly went viral, prompting an outpouring of support from the public and calls for justice. Encouraged by his supporters, Galanakis made the decision to take legal action against the officers involved in his arrest. In an exclusive interview with The Law&Crime Network’s Sierra Gillespie, Galanakis discusses the details of his arrest, the impact it has had on his life, and his determination to hold the officers accountable for their actions.

Notice how the cop never even mentioned marijuana until AFTER the kid blew 0.00? The cop was proven wrong and was grasping at straws.

So, is the narrator for people with short attention span?
We see 30 seconds of video.
Then the narrator tells everything we just saw and heard.
How is that necessary?
sounds like an officer tried getting back at his highschool bully
SUE AND KILL THEM ALL
Cops escalate and violate people rights so much. They are so bad at investigating and deescalating. They don’t know how to talk to people and agitate people
Bro. I notice cops like to arrest people for anything even if they weren’t drunk. And under the legal limit.
So were arresting sober people for DUI and letting actual DUI's drive freely on the highway? What a world.
cops who falsely arrest should be given the death sentence
The officer should be in prison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
POC L cop
Cops are exactly the kids you suspected would turn into cops from your high school class
OHHHHHHHHHH another comment nailed it! The cops were impaired so they needed to find someone they could charge with OWI/DUI because the cruiser probably smelled like booze! Makes sense
This cop is trying to act like a detective, but without the required IQ, and for half the paycheck.
HE'S LYING HE DIDN'T BLOW A 0. LIFE IN PRISON FOR THIS DRUNK DRIVER
And the cop probably got a free vacation in the form of “suspensionâ€
Police do that kind of thing but yet they want to be respected
I applaud this young man for how he handled the situation—he maintained complete control of his emotions and remained cool under pressure. This is exactly the type of person who would excel in law enforcement, and I can easily see him becoming a remarkable FBI agent.
This is why you should refuse a field sobriety test. It is an optional test nationwide and no one is required to perform it. A lot of lawyers will reccomend politely declining field sobriety tests because of the accuracy rates, and most of the time cops will find a way to use it against you. Many sober people fail these tests. This can be due to anxiety, stress, and health conditions. Decline FST and let them know you will gladly do a breathalyzer.
Usa people have big big mental issues😢
This jerk makes all police officers look bad what a shame could have ruined this young man’s life
GG WP
His only crime is his terrible haircut.
I remember this
Not following directions lol"… he's not unbalanced like a drunk!
You want to blow me😂
Switched up the roles real quick
Come blow me mr cop😊
Absolutely ridiculous. This cop is so unprofessional. He is doing everything to ruin.this poor guys life.
The cop was bullied in high school and has issues at home apparently.
NAME THE COP!!! HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN SHOULD SUFFER TOO. TAKE THEIR HOUSE AND MAKE HIS WHOLE FAMILY LIVE ON THE STREET !!!!
These cops just be thinking they're emperors of the universe with that badge I mean seriously "Put your gum on your dash" what kind of ridiculous request is that
Clown cop wanted a conviction so he could get a bonus at the end of the month and he didn't care who he had to throw in prison to get it.
POS cops. All aholes
My field sobriety would suck I’m sure I would pass and I have dry eye and awful allergies they are always bloodshot!
The fact he could stand on one leg for as long as he did proves he was sober and not on drugs. It takes a certain level of fitness and concentration just to do that one.
I wish this was me, I would sue these officers and the department for everything they have.
BS. Poor guy
Now he will be able to sort that ridiculous wop haircut out and get a decent cut.
If you look up information on field sobriety there is absolutely no way to pass it is just done for evidence sober or not
My dad is a retired officer. When I was maybe 15, he accused my stepbrother and me of sneaking a couple beers and proceeded with a FST on both of us, which he claims we both failed. Funny thing is we were both 100% sober, but Pops had about 10 beers in him by this point.
That's some bad pork there
