Troopers with the Ohio State Patrol reported a reckless driver on southbound Interstate 71 near state Route 48 in Warren County. Troopers said that after pulling over the car, they approached the vehicle and a 51-year-old woman, a passenger, indicated to a trooper that she needed help. The woman is from Tiltonsville, Ohio. Officials said the driver of the car, identified as Tomas Gorman, of Lakeland, Florida, sped away with the woman still in the car, dragging a trooper a short distance as he fled.
Police gave chase, following the car onto westbound I-275. The chase came to an end near Winton Road when Gordon lost control of his vehicle, troopers said. Gorman was taken into custody after a short struggle. Officials said the female passenger was injured from being assaulted by Gorman. She was taken to a secure location and reunited with family members. Gorman was charged with kidnapping, felonious assault, fleeing and eluding police and reckless operation.
