Sixteen-year-old Carol Sue Klaber left her parent’s home in Boone County, Kentucky on June 4, 1976, to go out with a friend after dropping off her bicycle. The next day, she was found dead in a ditch after being sexually assaulted and beaten to death with a tire iron. After nearly 50 years, investigators say they solved the case and identified the killer using DNA technology. The Law&Crime Network’s Angenette Levy spoke with cold case detective Coy Cox about the groundbreaking developments in the case and why the investigation continues.

  1. They seen her get into the car, car was seen at her house, and seen the guy and couldn't solve this case? Whats the deal with ky homicide investors i mean here in Louisville tons go unsolved, Bardstown look at that fiasco, this been going on since 70s.

  2. Another case in Kentucky is the Brooklyn farthing case near berea kentucky, went missing one night after a party and never seen again… it’s horrible with the details, there’s so many cold cases in Kentucky that need to be looked into, I’m glad the dna is top notch now..

  3. I have seen so many cases of horrific murder where the killer GOT OUT OF JAIL and KILLED AGAIN. It's almost as though the judicial system doesn't study these cases. Anyone who commits such a brutal crime should be separated from an unsuspecting population PERMANENTLY !

  4. I’m 34 an at the time I was 3 my mom disappeared were from Kentucky but I currently stay in Indy but the fbi been having her bodie this whole time all these years we been looking now 29 years we find her with dna but the killer is out there or Sam little I would like to get my mom story out I just don’t know how or who to contact 😢

  5. I know he died in 1990, but let's pretend he didn't for a second
Imagine the shock on the face of the murderer when it's been 47 years.
He's 100% sure he got away with it, but then one day, a detective knocks on his door and says, "Did you know Carol Klaber?"
Oohhhh, that must hit them like a lightning bolt

  6. Everyone should get a DNA when born that would save a lot of time and maybe monsters would think twice before ending people's lives

  7. This is beautiful and really shows that there are good and caring people that work in law enforcement. 50 years later Detective Cox still gets emotional talking about Carol and all the time and energy put into giving her family closure and how important it was to find the dirtbag that ended her life extremely too soon. 🥰💖🥰

  8. Closure is a wonderful thing. God bless all who were hurt beyond words for that murdering creep!
Lots of praises for police and detectives for the horrific stuff they see and hear. It must be so hard on the brain and body.

  9. Everyone seems to act like the rednecks are the up standing citizens in the world lol but little do they know. Roun here they are doing the most foul shh. Here n my old Kentucky home

  10. This is such a sad case, but glad they solved it and the family has closure. Detective Coy Cox, excellent job!

I'm surprised though that the genetics lab would say the DNA samples were a 100% match. They can never guarantee that, although it was so obvious in this case. It's amazing what DNA forensics can do nowadays.

SUCKS the guy is dead…I hope he's getting what was coming to him in the afterlife.
