Despite the state filing its intent to seek the death penalty if Bryan Kohberger is convicted of murdering four University of Idaho students, all the defense wanted to discuss in a motions hearing Tuesday was evidence. “We disagree on when I should get discovery,†Kohberger’s attorney said in court. “It’s necessary to investigate this case and prepare Kohberger’s defense.” The state fired back, claiming the defense has everything they have. Kohberger, a former Ph.D student at Washington State University, was arrested for the brutal November 2022 slayings at his parents’ home in Pennsylvania after investigators say he drove cross-country to visit his family for the holidays.
