An Aurora Police officer was significantly injured after being dragged by a suspect who sped away from a traffic stop. Now police hope someone can help them find the driver. On April 3, two officers made a routine traffic stop on Alameda Avenue and Exposition. The unidentified officer on the driver’s side asks for ID and when the suspect can’t find it, he takes off. The officer was caught up on the side of the vehicle.

“This is worst case scenario almost,” said Aurora Police Officer Crystal McCoy, spokeswoman for Aurora Police. “For reasons we don’t know he (the suspect) fled from the scene.” Police have identified the driver as 34-year-old Jason Moore. He has a prior history of aggravated robbery and police consider him dangerous, though he did not have a known outstanding warrant before the incident. He now faces a charge of second-degree assault on a peace officer, a class 4 felony.

“He displayed a complete disregard for safety. There was an officer on the other side. He had a passenger in the car,” says McCoy. “We don’t know why he doesn’t have a license. He probably shouldn’t have been driving.” Aurora police want anyone who has seen Moore to contact investigators, but warn parties to avoid Moore at all costs.
