Arrested for “Improperly Crossing the Road” (while recording cops)

Gerald Shields saw an unusually large number of cop cars at a traffic stop. He began filming them from across the public street. No yelling, no interference, no threats. Just recording what police officers were doing – in public, from a safe distance. But minutes later, Gerald was face-down on the ground, injured, and under arrest. The alleged crime? Improperly crossing the street. But as it turns out, that wasn’t actually a crime. The officers were just harassing Gerald because he was filming them. They didn’t even deny it…

  1. At the skating rink incident he was working off duty, so qualified immunity should not apply, therefore the parents of this boy at the skating rink should sue the pants off this Scumbag!

  2. And this is why citizens have taken to shooting cops. If anyone is surprised to hear a cop or cops got un-alived, this is a picture perfect example of why it's happening. They have this perceived authority that they can do whatever they want to citizens to appease their damaged egos. If qualified immunity was abolished, this behavior and the cop shootings would drop dramatically. Until then, it's going to escalate. Just like they escalate every encounter.

  3. this looks like a job for BABA YAGA . . . you spend the rest of your life with PTSD they get a paid vacation . . . BABA YAGA will "help" they see things differently

  4. Its not just child abuse … its also abuse of a protected person …. he is special needs….. i work in a school for special needs children and get punched, kicked, bit , ect all the time not one fucking time have i ever thought to punch or git back… even during a takedown its done as gently as possible to keep EVERYONE safe and that includes the person being taken down because they are HUMAN too!!

  5. Another bunch of incompetent disrespectful officers that need to be terminated and lose their ability to be in law-enforcement!!!! Time to call the sheriffs office and the county commissioners of the county.

  6. We are suppossed to be free. How anyone be free with all these rules? We can be arrested if we cross the road at an 80 degree angle. When I die, I am not going to miss this BS.

  7. I had these same kinda incident happen to me. Wasn't thrown to the ground but was harassed and had my constitutional rights violated. Let me just say not all cops are bad apples just those that feel like they can have a bad day on you.

  8. For everybody calling for cops to have to pay out of their own pockets for the abuses they commit, I agree with that but the bigger picture here is being ignored. Somebody is training cops to act the way they do, judges, prosecutors and politicians condone the behavior as well. Who is really to blame here, the pigs for being pigs or the trainers and condoners for letting it happen? I blame every one of them. Hold the whole line accountable, the trainers to the politicians, all of them should pay for what they have the power to change or stop all together but absolutely will not. I don’t know about any of y’all but in sick of seeing these kinds of videos with police doing what they want, to whoever they want for any reason they want. Disarm the police and make them pay from their own pockets, the judges, prosecutors and politicians to.

  9. Why aren't these officers arrested and pu in jail they are the criminals not the guy videoing, how do they get hired? Florida needs to do better!!! Or the county here!
