While pressing the SLED agent who investigated Alex Murdaugh’s roadside shooting incident, defense attorney Richard Harpootlian revealed the disgraced lawyer tested positive for opioids and barbiturates after the crime. Harpootlian grilled agent Ryan Kelly over his knowledge of Murdaugh’s intoxicated state at the time of the shooting. Kelly testified the medical records detailing the drug test results were only released after a court subpoena.

The defense knew they had a poop sandwich of a case here — and it shows. A lot of people say they fumbled their way through the trial and didn't put on a great defense. But let's face it. They had a crappy hand — not to mention a lying, thieving, drug-addled jackass of a client — from the start.

Alex, family. Friends and police had plenty of time to ruin the crime scene for investigators from the time of the murders until Murdaugh was arrested. The property was not closed off and the police did not properly investigate the evidence and close the crime scene from the beginning because he was Friends of most people in law enforcement. This whole trial is a joke.
