15. Hi Floyd, nice commentary! I'm a retired paralegal and have watched many true crime shows (as well as quite a few L&O). I've always told my kids if they're brought in for questioning, say not a word, and get a lawyer if they continue to harass or if they arrest you. I don't fault Alex for having his attorney present during questioning – cops can be grotesquely aggressive in questioning. I fault him for killing his wife and son.

24. How does one "get a lawyer" ?I know you can get a public defender (I think?) But if not, do you just walk into a random lawyers office and say "will you be my lawyer if I ever need one?" Do you have to pay them if you never need them?
    I've often wondered for people who have never been in trouble a day in their life, not so much as a speeding ticket such as myself, how they can say "I want to call my lawyer"?Are public defenders as good as lawyers you hire? (Never had a need to know but I guess I always thought public defenders that are assigned to you, you don't pay for?)
