A Kentucky State Trooper (Hayden Kilbourne) was just sentenced to 5 years in prison. His former employer, the Kentucky State Police just released the bodycam footage from the incident that caused him to lose his career and his freedom. What did this trooper do that was so bad, or even different from so many other videos I’ve shown you? Is this a rare example of the system actually working as intended, or is there more to the story here?

Do you think Kilbourne really believed there was some active resistance occurring, or was he just engaging in gratuitous violence? Should we applaud the KSP for acting quickly and doing the right thing here? Or were they just covering their own asses?

Five years is not enough. any cop that attacks a person in the head or neck area should be charged with attempted murder. Especially if the person is threatening to kill an individual as shown here. A major problem in our society and police culture is the use of force/ violence. There’s got to be a better way.

I think it matters not their motivation. If they did the right thing, and I believe they did, the KSP should be commended for holding the trooper responsible. However, as I watched the moment the baton went into action, I immediately thought, why isn't the other trooper intervening?

I heard no objections to the assaulting officer's actions by the officer wearing the body cam, and to take a page of their own playbook, could be indicative of it being common practice.
Lying on the ground both hands up and visible, taser darts still in him… he's subdued. Officer two let officer one beat the suspect while still pointing his weapon at the suspect. Failure by KSP for not firing both cops!!! The sickness continues.
