It was just before 1 a.m. in Mansfield, Ohio. A 67-year-old man set out on a simple errand: to grab a 50-cent soda from a vending machine at the Car Wash & Mini Mart, just a block from his home. But he would never get that soda, because the Mansfield Police Department rolled up on him and immediately detained him for allegedly jaywalking across this empty street. Knowing that he did nothing wrong, the man complained. But he was then forcefully grabbed and then slammed to the parking lot asphalt, severely injuring him. An army of officers then surrounded him, mocked him and belittled him. All the while ignoring his obvious physical injuries.

I don't think this had anything to do with jaywalking. I'm willing to bet the officers know exactly who he is and have been instructed to harass him for whatever reason. He said he owns property and i know small rural communities have history doing this to people just to steal their property; I've lived it!
Deport these police officers
Nothing declares "justice" like a full-on takedown of someone for the heinous act of j-walking. But this egregious offense did occur under the cover of darkness – so maybe it's enhanceable to "capital j-walking".
The Mansfield PD noble crime-fighters and protectors of crosswalks and curb-lines truly deserve recognition for their superior prowess and keen law enforcement abilities in thwarting all those rebellions by terroristic pedestrians.
The chief should Frame It and Hang It in the PD lobby so crossing guards everywhere can bathe in your valor.

Cops are so corrupt, they're literally collecting money and "acting busy" at 1 am when there's no crime…so let's all gather and do nothing for hours and hours for "JAYWALKING". Out of all the crimes at 1 am….jaywalking requires 10 cops, and about 5 hours of booking/custody/paperwork. Also, they need overtime and they're very overworked + understaffed….as usual.
