  1. I liked this interview. he seemed almost too forthcoming with some of the info and some stuff was hard to believe but still a great conversation. the most disturbing statement I heard him say was "they want us to use less than lethal before lethal". maybe I just took it wrong but to me it sounds like he would rather pull a gun before anything else. I also would like to know who is
    'they"?

  2. He doesn't have to help the person after he shoots him/her; he only has to "ACT" like he's helping the person. This guy sounds awful fishy!!! Only has to work one day a year? On 4th of July? What's up with that? And if that's true; what the frick is he doing there now? I smell "BULLSHIT"!!!

  3. A failure drill is used in situations where the police come into contact with someone who may be wearing body armor… The first 2 shots to the body mass were ineffective as the suspect may still be shooting at the police or charging them with a weapon… So after the 1st 2 shots, the officer assesses the threat is still there with possible body armor, or possible drugs that keep the person shooting/charging (see above examples) … so the headshot is to shutdown the central nervous system, which would definitely stop the person from shooting/charging the officer with a weapon.

  4. Notice how he calls them "peace officers" I say "police" but he always refers to them as "peace officers"…..That is a phrase I haven't heard full time cops refer to themselves as…..
I also think he might have been "showing off", but it did not and does not turn me on hearing about how he "has" to help the "suspect" if he shoots them….or that they are trained in "failure drills" (failure to "comply") with 2 to the chest and 1 directly in the head and that he wasn't really bothered the 3 times he has held a trigger and pulled (aka: he has shot 3 people) Not knowing the specific situations as to why he had to shoot 3 people- I wont assume they were "guilty or innocent" so moving on.
Also- I'm new- most of LAPD Harbor Division knows me, but not many of the surrounding cities- so this may be the 1 and only time I will be able to have such a candid conversation with someone in his position~

  5. Great share, Laura! He seems like an intelligent & curious guy. Probably gets bored easily, so, likes to educated himself & move around to different departments so as to not get involved with inbred PD politricks. Would rather run into him than the typical thug psychopath with a badge & a gun.

  6. It's interesting to me that only a few officers want to go through the extra training. It always hits me hard when a officer shoots someone and then immediately cuffs them up while they bleed out. I think all the extra courses should be required if you want to become an officer.
