Joiner, Arkansas — On May 2, 2026, an Arkansas State Trooper spotted a Dodge Charger speeding along Highway 118 near the small town of Joiner in Mississippi County. Investigators said the vehicle was traveling around 80 mph in a 55 mph zone, prompting the trooper to attempt a routine traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, the driver, later identified as 23-year-old Thalia Jones, allegedly accelerated and continued driving, leading officers on a pursuit through the rural area. Police said the chase escalated when Jones reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic while trying to avoid being stopped. Troopers then decided to use a PIT maneuver, a tactic designed to force a fleeing vehicle to spin out and come to a stop. The maneuver caused the Charger to lose control, strike objects near the roadside and flip upside down in a field. Moments later, officers realized a 3-year-old child was inside the car when the toddler emerged from the wreckage and ran toward troopers as they secured the scene. Troopers said the child was uninjured. He was evaluated by emergency responders alongside his mother and was later released to another adult at the scene. The trooper was upset when he realized there was a child in the car and scolded the mother for putting his life in danger. Jones was charged with speeding, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, child endangerment and unauthorized use of another person’s vehicle to commit a crime. Authorities said the car belonged to Jones’ boyfriend, and the incident was reported to the Child Abuse Hotline.

This child should be removed from his mother's custody. Children that are raised by loving and caring parents have a natural wariness around strangers. The way this child reaches for these officers is heartbreaking. I'm fairly certain this is a neglected child and the officers clearly aware, too. Six years in law enforcement followed by 30 years as an ER Nurse, I have seen this behavior hundreds of times and it breaks my heart every time. Kudos to these officers.
Tubes tied, all children removed from her custody, license revoked for at least 10 years, ZERO TAXPAYER ASSISTANCE, and at least one year incarceration.
The mom is dumb but the cop didn't need to cause a wreck. All it was was speeding. Take the license plate number then go get her.
