Suspect Calls 911 on Himself Then Charges Police With Sword

Sacramento, California — On July 14, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a weapon in the 3100 block of Occidental Drive. The caller, who was also the suspect, reported armed with a sword and trying to kill his friend. At approximately 1:45 a.m., responding officers located the suspect armed with a sword outside of his residence. Officers attempted to de-escalate and negotiate with the suspect to put the sword down. The officers also requested Crisis Negotiators to respond to the scene. For approximately 30 minutes, Crisis Negotiators attempted to get the suspect to put down the sword.

As Crisis Negotiators continued to speak with the suspect, he stood up, removed the sword from its sheath, and advanced toward officers, swinging the sword. At that time, officers deployed less lethal munitions. The suspect continued to advance toward officers, and an officer-involved shooting occurred. One officer fired their firearm, and the suspect was struck at least one time. Officers then detained the suspect and rendered emergency medical aid. The suspect was transported to an area hospital by the Sacramento Fire Department, where he remains in critical condition. The suspect will be booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and resisting arrest. The weapon was recovered at the scene.

    Dude is suicidal and clearly struggling because of people like the people in these comments making fun of his voice and generally just shit talking him. Maybe if more people cared and treated him like a human none of this would have happened. Im so sick of seeing dudes talking about mens mental health then the first chance people get to shit on another man they jump at the opportunity its sad to see just have a shred of common well i guess not so common decency

    It’s shit that he wanted someone to do it for him and possibly traumatise them rather than doing it himself, but I hope he finds the help he sorely needs! He’s obviously not in a good place 😔
