A summer outing with friends took a deadly turn after a man approached the group asking if they saw a cellphone. The man took out a knife and started stabbing several teens, killing 17-year-old Isaac Schuman and injuring others. The suspect, Nic Miu, claimed self-defense, but the jury disagreed.
Im confused how anyone can be on the adults side. They pushed adter he punch one of thee girls. There's a fulls video showing that online. The other issue here is that he stabbed people and never called for an ambulance or police. He went on with his trip as if nothing happened. Ask yourself this if you trulyhad to defend yourself wether with a gun or whatever are you not going to call the police and ambulance. I have worked with kids that have behavioral problems and have even been assaulted by kids I can't stab them. I think what he was feeling was embarrassment not fear. This is not some poor senior citizen, this is a man who could not control his emotions. This is wrong all together you had kids being jerks and saying mean things but the moment they asked to him to get away he should have walked away and then if he felt like they had this supposed cell phone he could have called the police. This was not self defense, you don't get to kill someone because they hurt your feelings. Also one last thing self defense has to match the level of threat. They pushed he stabbed. He could have push back, he even could have screamed for help. His first instincts however was to inflict great bodily harm

we always tell people you don't know where someone is in their emotional state anything could be going on you treat people with respect… they even called him a pedophile they were ignorant and insulting and they thought that they could laugh at him call him names be mean to him get up in his face with their cameras and do all this stuff but he's a bad person because he loses his temper he shouldn't have pulled a knife I am the first to admit it but they didn't think they would be held accountable for their disrespectful rude behavior and like one other person mentioned here now the victim has gone to prison and a teenager is dead all because of stupidity of entitled kids who have been taught to think that it's okay to treat people disrespectfully without consequence!!

The 17 yr old kid was a complete failure of a human being. Now mom acts all shocked he did something wrong…and in fact will never admit to herself the part he played in his own death.
ALL of these bully teens were highly intoxicated and trying to impress each other with bravado. That's a more realistic description of what happened. He was attacked by a mob and defended himself. Not one of the people stabbed is INNOCENT.

This case is one of the most unfair and unjust trail, these kids gathered around him pushed him into the water and harassing him nonstop he had no choice but to defend himself, another case of being white and privilege
Those kids weren’t totally innocent in all of this. They did in fact surround and attack him. I feel like his actions could have been justified when they had him down in the water, but everything that happened after that sealed his fate. You can in fact defend yourself with a knife without killing the person, it’s all about intent. You don’t need to disembowel the person to make them leave you alone, and you certainly can’t just go around stabbing people after you’re not in danger anymore, that made his intentions very clear. He even stabbed a young girl who was just standing around. A few of those kids were definitely being jerks, but they didn’t deserve what he did. This guy belongs in jail…
I wonder if the verdict or charge would have been different if he hadn't of lied and if he had stayed close to the scene?.

They assaulted him first & he got scared and wanted to protect himself. No one should have lost their life, may he rip, but you can't assault someone especially when you're in a crowd & all of them against one. What did they expect smh.
