Reckless Driver Yanked Out of Car After Swerving at Deputy During Chase

Trousdale County, Tennessee — On September 3, 2025, about 2:00 pm, Trousdale County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Hwy 25 East. Smith County Sheriff’s Office reported they were in pursuit of a black Mustang with Kentucky tags. At Lattie Reese Rd, a Deputy attempted to use spike strips to slow the Mustang. The driver swerved towards the Deputy and accelerated. Another Deputy performed a P.I.T. (Precision Immobilization Technique) to stop the driver from endangering other lives. The driver was removed from the car, arrested and transported to Jail. The driver was charged with Assault against a Law Enforcement Officer, Evading Arrest by Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Improper Passing, No Registration and No Insurance. The Mustang was impounded for Open Title. A hearing is scheduled in General Sessions Court. Charges are pending in Smith County.
