11. The old man didn't want people digging and searching his property. It probably felt to him like an invasion of privacy. A lot of people move out to places like that and live on big pieces of land just for the seclusion or to feel secure. Having police and investigators crawling all over his land would have felt like a violation of his property, privacy, seclusion, and security. I don't blame him but it would have helped if he had been more open to investors.
