Passenger Runs From Traffic Stop Cops Find Gun And Drugs

Waterbury, Connecticut — On July 12, 2025, at approximately 1:06 p.m., officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit (TSU) was proactively patrolling the area of 496 Chase Ave and conducted a traffic stop due to traffic violations. During the course of the stop, the passenger—identified as 22-year-old Edwin Castillo, of Waterbury, CT—exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers pursued Castillo and quickly apprehended him without incident. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was issued infractions for the motor vehicle violations.

During the investigation officers seized:
• Ammunition
• Glock 44 (Firearm)
• 32.oz of Marijuana

Castillo was charged with the following:
• Failure to Wear Seat Belt
• Interfering with an Officer
• Weapons in a Motor Vehicle
• Carrying A Pistol Without a Permit
• Illegal Sale or Transfer of a Firearm
• Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine
• Possession Of Marijuana with Intent to Sell

    ok….while that was foolish of him (provided he didn't have warrants and therefore had something to lose) for running when it probably was a ticket to the driver, half of those charges aren't even real crimes. There's a way to carry weapons in a vehicle in all states. 2nd amendment nulls and voids needing a permit to carry. What evidence of any sale or transfer of a firearm exists, let alone illegal? And that's not even 30 rounds and isn't high capacity.
    He did however, miss the 2 places to go before being incarcerated. The Taco Bell for having a satisfying meal after having tons of the illegal drugs on him. And the bank to pay charges on his cards to avoid debt, default, collections, and delinquent payments by being blocked from the banks and internet while being incarcerated.
