Houston, Texas  On July 17, 2025, Houston Police Officers responded to a call for service regarding a suspicious person with a weapon. Officers located an individual matching the provided description walking in the roadway in the 10500 block of Mykawa Road. As officers exited their patrol vehicle, the suspect, 36-year-old Bobby Jose Alvarado opened fire, striking one of the officers. Officers returned fire, striking Alvarado. Officers provided life-saving measures to both the officer and Alvarado. The officer and Alvarado were transported to area hospitals in stable conditions.
Alvarado is charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a peace officer in the 487th State District Court. The wounded officer, Sergeant P. George was transported to an area hospital in stable condition where he was treated and released. The sergeant discharged his duty weapon in the incident. He was sworn in as an HPD officer in February 1997 and is assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division. HPD Sergeant K. Burch who also discharged his duty weapon, was not injured in the incident. He was sworn in as an HPD officer in April 2014 and is also assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division.

Guy's a baller for staying in the fight, but holy sh*t talk about what not to do in a gun fight. Both abandon cover and concealment, then stand in the open with no lethal or eyes on the guy they just dropped. Four empty hands vs. a subject that just shot at them. Someone keeps eyes on and a gun on him while the other puts on his TQ. Or hand the shot officer your rifle and put the TQ on him. Def some training tips to take away here.
Couple of absolute beasts operating together. No fear at all. No hesitation even when shot.
The officer who got shot was so calm about it, but its all do to the adrenalin being so high he cant feel the real pain of being shot.
It’s almost like no amount of training can fix the stupidity of large amounts of officers. Disregards cover/concealment, gets shot, disregards cover/concealment again.

Both of these officers are honorary John wicks but the driving officer is smooth. That's the fastest I've seen a cop go from getting out of their car with their pistol to getting their AR out and shooting snaps and claps
