Authorities arrested Rex Heuermann on July 14 in connection to the unsolved murders of Gilgo Beach, where the remains of 11 bodies were found between 2010 and 2011. For years, authorities had no leads in the Gilgo Beach serial killer case until their investigation led them to the 59-year-old Manhattan architect. The Law&Crime Network’s Angenette Levy breaks down how investigators used genetic genealogy to identify victims of the serial killings with Kristen Mittelman, chief business development officer at Othram Inc.

  1. I suppose that they will also be taking a look , at all the Buildings that he was commissioned to do.
An ideal opportunity to dispose of bodies at his convenience, having access to all that freshly dug ground, that would be eventually filled with concrete !

  2. When researchers say that they found dna of a second person on a victim, how do they find that? 🤯 Does that have to be skin under the nails? A hair? If those are not found, how do investigators search for non-victim DNA on a victim?

  3. Comments what a fantastic tool familial dna is…yet on the sidebar about BK there’s comments debunking it’s use and they have the wrong person.
Make your minds up people 🙄

  4. Genetic DNA testing is so powerful and accurate. In 2017 I was able to piece together who my biological parents were even though they never took an Ancestry DNA test. I am excited to hear that this technology is providing some closure to families.

  5. Her husband isn't concerned about her health issues, why should we? She has her & her husband's $$$ to find her expenses whether married or after a divorce. That's her husband's duty not the public's duty.

  6. The ad when this video starts, the middle aged Karen talking about, "Leaking semen for hours", PLEASE 🙏 😂 omg did NOT need that precursor

  7. ✨Thank you, amazing scientists! You ALL are angels😌💞☺️

  8. Excellent interview. The expert is truly professional and highly informed. In addition, her demeanor is spot on. Not giggly and light. She knows this is a tragic subject matter and she treats it with deep respect. The interviewer giggling at the end is disorienting.

  9. Rex seems to plead not guilty to everything, even now claiming it wasn't his Pizza that he couldn't eat the crusts of. Obviously a sick puppy who has a lot to hide from

  10. All his victims were around 5 ft petite and this dude is 6’6 250+ .. man they stood no chance they were at his mercy smh

  11. We understand this. Maybe time would be spent better trying to help the family of this demented man. His wife is suffering from cancer and is going to lose her insurance now.

  12. It may be a good idea to place hidden camera's out near that stretch of beach or these open fields so they may catch some footage of activity better! It may help in future cases!

  13. I hope that they really do have good evidence and haven't ruined an innocent life and family for nothing. I would not think they would have picked him up if they did not have a solid case, but innocent people have been made to look guilty before. We have not heard in court evidence. I have watched only 4 trials, but 3, there were moments of doubt until the end, when the prosecution did mic drop introductions of evidence and got incredible, no doubt left testimony. Two trials, they did not even get the most damming evidence until late! There just could be no doubt left. Also, closing arguments are crucial to clear up lots of pieces by sequencing everything. Some are just works of art. It would certainly be hard not to show emotion in these trials. Some are unbearably horrifying in detail, and some parts are very funny in some way. One jury member discussed later, that not being able to de-escalate by sharing was extra traumatizing. They should have a court counselor to talk to. They do not have to discuss guilt or innocence, but talk out what they heard and saw and feelings. We should all go to their defense and get laws passed for them to get that kind of support during and after the trial.
