IMPORTANT correction: the government that was overthrown in 2014 with the use of literal neo-Nazis and backing from the USA and the EU was not "pro-Russian" at all (even as the Mueller investigation uncovered). The issue was that it was not enough anti-Russian, so it had to be replaced with a puppet. The new president is a puppet of a different oligarch who has previously backed neo-Nazis in Ukraine (even though he is a Jew himself: the condition was that they should only pursue killing Russians, not Jews), so things are not likely going to be much better.
