They should have cuffed him as soon as he went down on the ground face-first, for his and the officers' own safety. He was already disobeying directives.
This firefighter should be put on administrative leave immediately and examined for his mental state.

Hot take I kind of feel bad for the first guy. I feel like the officers could have de-escalated and driven this dude home to his bed. He was obviously confused/blacked out and had no control over what he was doing.

The cop did start off aggressive and In the guys face, even if the call is on the guy being a drunk belligerent a hole, thats way too unprofessional and provoking of the cop, it’s like gang activity, he has partners and all with weapons to come and firstly try to intimidate the the problem either another problem throwing more wood to the fire, very dumb in my opinion

That first guy, the Providence firefighter, ended up pleading no contest to the simple assault and obstruction charges, and the disorderly conduct charge was dismissed. The guy was given a one-year filing and ordered to undergo substance abuse counseling, according to the news report.
He is also no longer with the Providence Fire Department.
