What's crazy is if the guy had been able to swim across the river, he probably would have been able to make it away. With how pastoral this area is, it would have been very hard for deputies to be ready on the other side. Not to mention he could have just floated along for awhile.
These officers are wonderful though, calm, collected, and actually incredibly polite to him.

I always wonder if this is coming from playing too much GTA as a kid where you also just waited for the cops to get out of their car and then started to flee again. But older people who played GTA 2 would probably start to drive in circles until all stars disappear. 😀 Also going into the wrong lane with potential cars coming towards you, while doing high speed AND in fog? What is this? A suicide or are we running from the cops?! JESUS!

Genuinely crazy how unserious they were when he was literally almost drowning. He clearly wasn't faking as you can tell be the 35 seconds he spent under the surface and the water he coughed up. As someone who has almost drown, it is not something to take lightly and every second matters. I wouldn't have made it if they took as long as those officers did to help. Glad the current hadn't taken him a few feet further out of reach
