I am the person featured in the video. I do have a civil rights lawyer on the issue and we have a pre-demand letter to the city to resolve this out of court. The demand will be considered tomorrow at the city council meeting. I am prepared to MEET THEM IN COURT if necessary.
Let me correct something that was stated in the piece. In Texas a county burn ban does NOT apply to incorporated cities such as Brownwood, TX. In addition the city ordinance does not prohibit in clear language doing what I did. The grass had been mowed down to the ground and it was relatively "green". It would not burn and the only flame was the pear burner.
I only stepped outside because we have dogs and would have loved to run out the front door. Add to that there was no crime. The PD has a boner for me because for years I have ran the Brown County Watchdawg page on FB holding accountable local government.

What we have today is a bunch of nosy busy bodies that need to mind their own business. A phone call from someone, anyone, can send you to jail with little to no investigation. Ignorance of the law is no excuse unless you are the one enforcing it.
Just totally ignoring him and walking off after falsely imprisoning him. This is your community "Law enforcement". No knowledge of the law required.

The hose is there, and the grass is so lightly burnt it barely shows up on the BWC. His little propane setup is there, you can see it's not an industrial flamethrower. Clearly controlled in a safe manner, or at least reasonable to believe it's controlled. I doubt the busybody who called on him alleged he was out of control.

I don't think I would give the PD an F. This could have been much worse, and I think that this shouldn't get the same grade as a situation in which LEOs beat someone down for no reason. I'd give them a D.

Another reason the public hates cops
Texas police always misinterpret the second part of 38.02 that says giving a FALSE name during a detention is an offense.
They all think it means that they can demand id during a detainment.
How many drug houses did they ignore to make an arrest of this man?
