Bagley, Minnesota — On November 13, 2025, just after 12 p.m., a Clearwater County Deputy recognized 75-year-old Dennis Hoie at a gas station on Central Street West in Bagley and attempted to arrest him on outstanding felony warrants. Hoie resisted, fled in his pickup truck, and was pursued by deputies and a Bagley police officer. Hoie drove onto U.S. Highway 2 and later northbound on McDougal Avenue Northwest, where a Bagley police officer performed a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver, causing Hoie’s vehicle to spin out and stop in a residential driveway. Deputies and the Bagley officer approached the vehicle on foot and attempted to get Hoie to exit. During the attempt to get Hoie to exit the vehicle, Deputy Hallman broke the glass of the passenger side window of the pickup truck as Hoie pulled a flare gun and fired it toward the deputies on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Deputy Hallman fired his handgun through the passenger side window striking Hoie. Medical aid was rendered to Hoie, but he was pronounced deceased on the scene. A deputy on the driver’s side of Hoie’s vehicle sustained a graze injury to his head that did not require medical attention.

  2. I guess I’m glad they are busy rendering aid to the poor old jackleg who deserved what he got ?… but damn it took awhile for someone to come to the aid of the officer .
    That was painful .
Flare gun , what a nut job .
Thank goodness the officer was ok and no good guys shot each other , that was a good double in a gnarly crossfire situation . Excellent restraint from his fellows .

  3. The officer reacted well in that situation. A flare gun is so bizarre in that situation that’d think there may be the potential its shooting shotgun a shell.
Yes the flare was fired but to the officers credit he fired once, and announce not to continue shooting.

  4. Cops today are so soft. They don't even know what blood is. This cop was totally unfit. Crying like a baby.
Cops today are scared to death cowards. They are in it for the pensions and ego trip. They create a problem into a much bigger problem. They do not know how to actually talk to people. If he just talked to the guy nothing bad would have happened. They go for the throat WAY to soon. This cop here is a perfect example. It's just gonna get worse folks.

  5. Deputy Hallman, I hope you find peace with the action you were forced to take to defend yourself and the other deputy. I am glad you made it home to your loved ones.

  6. The officer made the right call, wtf, you see a flare gun and don't shoot? That shit can kill of leave you injured for life. He's probably upset because he knew the victim for many years and didn't want things to end this way.

  7. This was a good shoot, officer. You may have saved one of the officers from taking a flare to the face and ending his career or worse. Dennis got what he wanted and deserved.
And if anyone knows the doofus in the denim, give him a well deserved bell ringing. What a tool.

  8. Wow cops killing more whites we got black killing whites nothing happens we got jews killing whites all over nothing happens got Mexicans killing off the whites nothing happens maybe it time to start shooting back at everyone

  9. look it is sometimes good that these nut jobs come out of these situations un-alive, saves so many people a lot of grief and taxpayers dollars in the future.

  10. Let's see, we pay professional athletes and social media "influencers" millions of dollars, but hero's like this officer barely make enough to support their family. Our local PD pays $51k for new officers. Shameful.

  11. Put your hands on the car…Dennis doesn’t put hands on the car
Show me your hands…Dennis doesn’t show his hands
Don’t get in your car…Dennis gets in his car
    Don’t drive away…Dennis drives away

    I’ve got a cat just like Dennis 🐈‍⬛ 😂

  12. Lady on the phone as officer walks past her. "The Police just shot Dennis." NO, LADY! Dennis pulled a weapon on LEOs, and Dennis was held accountable. Dumb moronic woman. Go back and make a bowl on your pottery wheel or something. Moron.
