Thurston County, Washington — On October 15, 2025, a Thurston County Sheriff’s deputy came across a serious collision on SR 510. The causing driver was erratic: charging at the deputy, returning to his car and digging through it, and trying to get access to the victim driver. When the deputy placed herself between the victim and the suspect, a taser was deployed but didn’t work. The suspect then assaulted the deputy and tried to take her gun. Nisqually Tribal Police and an off duty corrections officer arrived on scene soon after and assisted, however the suspect continued to fight and attempt to disarm. It wasn’t until another deputy arrived on scene and deployed a successful taser that the suspect surrendered. The suspect was identified as 47-year-old Bryan Fleming. In an arrest report, Washington State Patrol troopers said witnesses saw Fleming’s car traveling on Pacific Ave at a high rate of speed before colliding with a guardrail and then striking an oncoming car. When questioned by a detective, Fleming said he drank seven bottles of “Nyquil” that day to help him fall asleep. Thurston County prosecutors charged Fleming with assault, attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence, reckless driving, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.

She needs to be taken off the line. She could have gotten herself and potentially others killed if he got her pistol.
Men are becoming more and more embarrassing and unhinged. It seems like the new remedy for "I don't want to be held accountable for my bad behaviour" is trying to force police to shoot them. Such a cowardly and selfish act. If you don't want to face the consequences of doing something you shouldn't, how about just not doing that thing? Or face it like a real man? Because there are young boys watching you, either in person or online. Is this what you want to teach them? Nobody lives in isolation anymore. Everything you do has far reaching effects that you're probably not even aware of. This man here made a pretty bad choice that landed him in a car accident and probably a DUI. But he didn't want to face the consequences so he goes for the easy way out. Now his consequences are going to be a whole lot worse than they were before.

The thing that really sucks here, is how delicately i , as a man; a relatively larger man, (6' 227 lbs), have to be commenting here. I have always, and i do mean, ALWAYS ,been a big supporter of equal rights regardless of gender. But then i see these videos and it tells a different story. Not just a story about how significantly physically stronger a man is in relation to a woman, but that size really does matter. That whack job was nearly twice her size, with an extremely aggressive personality. That officer, though she meant well, and should have every opportunity a man has to become a LEO, she's clearly not fit for the job. Having a firearm but not willing to use it, especially in a self preservation situation is absurd. That man was an immediate potentially lethal threat and her service pistol is a force multiplier. There's absolutely no reason she shouldn't have drew down and fired.
Good thing there were men around to save her.

Zero ability to defend herself, nothing. A perfect example of why just a little training would save her life in the future. You can't rely on someone being there to help you/ her.
SHE was within a few seconds of being done and who knows who else. Folks not all women are suited for patrol and the motoring public is at higher risk in these cases. A gun is not involved until it shows up on cop's belt and is removed then the rest of us are in real danger.
