Hayward Police Shootout With Armed Suspect Outside Convenience Store

Hayward, California — On October 8, 2025, just after 4 p.m., Hayward Police Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a man brandishing a firearm in the 29000 block of mission boulevard. The caller provided a description of the man, later identified as 40-year-old Jaime Mejia Lopez, and of the firearm observed by her son. The caller reported that Lopez was standing outside a convenience store, where officers located him when they arrived. When three hayward police officers drove into the parking lot in two vehicles, Lopez walked in their direction. Before the officers exited their vehicles, Lopez crouched behind a car and pointed a gun at them. An exchange of gunfire followed between Lopez and the officers. No one was struck by gunfire. One of Lopez’s bullets fired at officers struck a gray Honda Odyssey, which had a mother and child nearby. Lopez tossed the gun toward the approaching officers. Lopez was treated at a hospital for a minor injury to his thumb and then booked into jail. Lopez’s firearm was recovered. He was arrested and booked into jail on multiple charges, including three counts of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. No officers or uninvolved members of the community were injured during this incident.

    That little turd gave up it seems only because his gun perhaps malfunctioned or he maybe even somehow got his thumb shot or caught in the slide of the gun. Either way he tossed the gun like a little "B" once he saw he was gonna otherwise end up in a coffin. All the tough guy with a gun attitude suddenly left him and he reverted to his true self… a sissy! 😂
