El Centro, California — On October 5th, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers from the El Central Police Department responded after an automated license plate reader identified a stolen Hyundai Elantra traveling through the city. Patrol officers coordinated a search and located the vehicle in the rear parking lot of a restaurant in the 400 block of East Main Street. Officers set up a perimeter around the parking lot and then moved to engage the vehicle. As the units moved towards the front of the restaurant, two subjects fled the area on foot. Marked police units moved and positioned themselves in the driveway with their red and blue light bar illuminated. At this point, the suspect accelerated the stolen vehicle and drove it towards officers. Two of the officers were in direct path of the fleeing vehicle. That is when the officer involved shooting occurred. Officers and El Central fire paramedics rendered aid, but the driver was declared deceased at the scene. The driver was identified as a juvenile from the city of Brawley. Two juvenile passengers in the vehicle were detained, but were not charged with the crime. Two other juvenile subjects were later located and interviewed. They also were not charged.

  2. Murder – Officers clearly tried to get in front of the car which they tend to do a lot , even if they hit reverse the officer would still shoot- absolute bs … It was never like this , until all the gwat military boys came home and joined a PD in the last ten years or so.

  3. Sucks that it’s a minor but unfortunately, they very rarely step away from this lifestyle. Someone worked very hard for that Hyundai and now they’re set back because I know how fucking miserable it is to try to get a government identity to pay for something they should.

  4. Legalized murder. Plain and simple.

Possibly one, certainly not both in the path of that vehicle.

Does not help that they PUT themselves in that path, so they could magdump a window. Nothing tells them they HAVE TO block a vehicle with their bodies to the point they endanger themselves to where they feel deadly force is necessary. In fact, I've seen plenty of evidence to suggest they are trained in the opposite – to seek cover, and NOT walk in front of a fleeing vehicle.

They know what they are doing… legalized murder… escalate a situation to where you were scared and had to go home at the end of the night so someone else has to die…
