Good Samaritans Save Kentucky Trooper Shot During a Traffic Stop

Frankfort, Kentucky — On July 13, 2025, a Kentucky State Police trooper pulled over a vehicle on Terminal Drive near Blue Grass Airport. During the traffic stop, one of the occupants, later identified as 47-year-old Guy House of Lexington, suddenly pulled out a gun and shot the trooper in the leg. The injured trooper was later identified as Trooper Jude Remilien, a 3-year veteran of the agency. After the shooting, House fled the scene, leaving behind the driver of the SUV. After seeing the injured trooper, three good Samaritans ran to his side, used belts as make shift tourniquets, gave Remilien water and kept pressure on his wound. The driver ran to help Remilien as well. He was not charged for any involvement in the shooting. Minutes later, Blue Grass Airport Police Department Officer Adam Arnold arrived and applied a tourniquet. On the video, paramedics are seen arriving soon after.

While escaping, House carjacked another vehicle from a civilian and continued driving through Fayette County. Police quickly began searching for the stolen vehicle and eventually located it near the Richmond Road Baptist Church on Old Richmond Road. Around 12:30 p.m., Lexington Police officers found House in the church’s parking lot. When they arrived, they discovered multiple victims who had already been shot by House. Officers confronted him, and when he refused to comply, three officers—Sergeant Ross Collins, Officer Kyle Blankenship, and Officer Simon Rankin—opened fire, killing him at the scene. Two of the church shooting victims, Christina Combs (34) and Beverly Gumm (72), died from their injuries, while two others were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Trooper Remilien survived and remains in stable condition.

Jimmy and Jessica Alexander, their daughter Taylor Hall and Airport Officer Adam Arnold were honored at the State Police Training Academy with the Meritorious Achievement Award, the highest honor KSP can give a civilian. This award had not been handed out in years. Trooper Remilien continues to recover from the incident but was walking on his own power on Thursday Oct. 23, 2025.

    Do NOT give water to someone in a medical emergency. It may feel instinctive, but don’t do it.
    Why? Because the person may have difficulty swallowing or be at risk of vomiting, choking, or inhaling liquid into the lungs. In many emergencies — like fainting, seizures, trauma, or severe illness — giving water can make the situation far worse.
    👉 Instead, keep their airway clear, stay calm, and call for professional medical help immediately.

    I love the fact he's surrounded by all white ppl and they're doing everything they can to help him. So all that OPPRESSION BS I keep hearing from blacks needs to stop.

    These people are still looking at him like he's in charge, and also still trying to help.

    The ppl aren’t from Samaria so they are not Samaritans. Just because you do a good deed doesn’t make you from Samaria.
    The story about the Good Samaritan was about a man from Samaria who stopped to help someone.

    These are good Kentuckians.

    The driver deserves credit. I'm glad he wasnt charged with anything. Watching the other people made me see that there is hope in humanity. The way they worked together to save the troopers life was a sight to behold.
    They were really brave!
    Me myself, i remember a few years back, i was drunk, on my way home. When i encountered a fellow being beaten up by two others in a back alley.
    I remember that i thought: i should go and help that guy. But when they both saw me, and exclaimed: if you know what's best for you, you should walk away.
    And so i did…..
    I regret that i did that ever since. I regret being a coward, seeing someone get hurt, and turn my back on them.
    These people, although they were not in an imideate threat, they still rushed to help this trooper, not knowing that he might go back to finnish the job.
    They did more than i did that day. and i'm forever ashamed because of it.
    i'm 5'7 and not atheletical buildt. So i would have had my ass kicked.

    We need the video of them finding him (the one who shot that cop and ended up unaliving 2 other people at a church) in a church parking lot and being unalived for his horrible decision
