It’s heartbreaking to think that someone could do such a thing to an innocent person. The fact that we’re still discussing cases like this shows how much work still needs to be done in society to protect our most vulnerable. It’s so easy to point fingers, but the system isn’t doing enough to prevent these tragedies. There are serial killers getting caught faster than ever, but for some reason, these cases keep slipping through the cracks. Why aren’t we demanding more from law enforcement and our justice system?

The killer said his “conscious is clear.†It’s not clear …it’s “seared†and there is a big difference. He’s describing being morally desensitized, no longer able to feel compassion, remorse, empathy, or guilt. He’s a dead soul without the intervention of Christ. Many view these emotions as weakness but these are the gifts that make us human. Once we are stripped of these things we become lower than beasts, a slave to every wicked thought.
