Judge Green Lights Alex Murdaugh’s Confession to Roadside Shooting as Evidence

Judge Clifton Newman originally rejected the prosecutor’s bid to show the jury Alex Murdaugh’s apparent confession to a Sept. 2021 roadside shooting murder-suicide plot after objections from the disgraced lawyer’s defense on Tuesday. The judge reversed his ruling after Murdaugh’s lawyer opened the door for the confession to be entered into evidence while cross-examining an investigator.

  1. Think the defense wants to eat cake and have it to. Don’t bring in roadside but ask all bout Eddie on cross. Don’t bring in financial crimes yet ask nothing but character questions about Alex. Don’t think it is fair to know Alex is a great guy if you don’t know he steals from desperate people.

  2. Ahahahah DEFENSE OPENED THE DOOR DANCING AROUND THE FIRE THINKING WOULDN´T GET BURNT!!!!!! Love this Judge. EVERY BOOK will reference this case. Some will be forever remembered as corrupt an sleazy, unlike this Judge,Prosecution, and some very competent witnesses. Good old boys club is exposed and their reign of terror is about to end.

  3. So what?? How's it evidence of him killing his family?? The State has a VERY weak case and Alex has OUTSTANDING Counsel,so we'll see. I've watched every minute of this trial and haven't seen ANY solid evidence that he did it. Scary if you think about it. What if he DIDN'T do it? Prison for life??? If you have ANY interest in REAL justice, you'd wait for closing arguments.

  4. Yes Buster has they snobby entitled look about him. Swaggering in to the courtroom with his hands in his hip pockets and laid out along the bench. Just like Dad he is. 👹

  5. I think the defense purposely introduced Eddie Smith into the record. Cousin Eddie is a double edged sword for the prosecution. He has lied and changed his story multiple times. His credibility will be seriously questioned. It also allows the defense to point to him as another or the sole suspect in the double murders.

  6. I just rewatched the judges ruling letting this in from the end of court yesterday. The reactions of the defendant and his attorneys were VERY interesting! At this point I really think the defense is intentionally making “mistakes” to give him grounds for an a appeal. He has a more than competent team and they are making rookie mistakes!

  7. So he had a decades old, 50k a week drug habit & his wife was clueless! Doesn't sound very believable. She confided in her housekeeper about a decade old infidelity, but made no mention of a $$ draining drug habit? He's attempting to use addiction as a mitigator/excuse for his thievery/despicable behavior.

  8. Defense could use the $50k a week drug habit as reason for someone who Alex owed to send a message. I think that its exaggerated on purpose to lead jury to believe that someone beside AM killed PM and MM. Either AM was being charged crazy amounts for those pills or his tolerance had grown so much that he needed around 7600 Milligrams of Oxy, etc. per day. That's roughly 250 oxycodone 30 mg per day. Nearly unheard of. So something here doesnt add up. Even with a serious tolerance, he'd be comatose and some of his family/friends would have seen that amount of drugs laying around.
