Former Columbus police vice squad officer Andrew Mitchell was indicted on murder and voluntary manslaughter charges for the death of 23-year-old Donna Castleberry. Mitchell went to trial in the spring of 2022, but in April, a judge declared a mistrial because jurors couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict. On the night Castleberry was killed, Mitchell allegedly picked her up in an unmarked police car during an undercover prostitution sting. Mitchell claims Castleberry stabbed him, so he shot her out of self defense. However, during the first trial, prosecutors said that she was shot in the back of Mitchell’s car while attempting to escape.

Mitchell in my opinion was guilty of murder. I did read up on this case thn watched the breakdown of his testimony and the prosecution/ defense arguments. He did not have to kill that woman.
And he is still in jail despite his acquittal in the re-trial awaiting another trial on Federal Charges
for witness tampering, evidence tampering to name some. So yeah… he's shady, his performance on that day was unnecessary force. And I feel so sad that his killing was validated by that verdict. I sure hope the jury gets it right during the federal trial.
This lady keeps saying that she was in fact, a person with a knife and all this other stuff but the thing is is that he did not have to pick her up. He chose to pick this woman up and bring her into his car. He chose to do this, so in reality, you have to look at all of the facts, so did she get in the front seat or did she get in the backseat at first because he stated that she was in the front seat, but then she was in the backseat, so please specify the facts of did he let her in the front seat, and then she got in the backseat. Maybe she got in the backseat because she was freaked out and wanted to leave and he said you’re not leaving you’re gonna die. I’m gonna kill you or something like that so she pulled a knife out why did he not just let her out of the car obviously OK look at all of those scenarios if all this was supposed to be a little sting why did he murder her?
Then she’s going to say well you know how do you know because you never were in this position but then she says you’re going to hear from an expert so obviously, this expert was in a car with a woman just like this, and he shot and killed this woman and he got off Scott free no I don’t think so. I guarantee you for a fact this never happened to anybody else. There was no reasonable force needed to happen in this case at all any grown man can take a knife away from a woman without having to have any massive physical aggression or anything this is totally wrong and very very very bad on his part he needs to be charged with first-degree murder.
How can you put yourself in a police officer shoes when he’s a police officer with a gun sitting in the front seat of a car after he picked up a woman that he didn’t have to pick up he did not have to pick her up for one, but he did pick her up and then obviously there was an assault or something going on so she obviously either jumped in the front or jumped in the back or something, but it ended up in the backseat. He stated that she was in the front seat with him, but the murder happened in the backseat of the car so that’s kind of strange so put yourself in that young girl’s shoes because obviously she don’t want to die. She wants to survive and that is why she pulled the knife out and cut his wrist or whatever she did cut his finger. Maybe poked his little pinky oh my god this is so wrong so because she cut his little pinky finger, he decided to pull a gun out and shoot six times and shoot three of them in her head. Are you serious?
230 pound man that means he’s probably got 300 pounds of force with one arm she’s 110 pound girl may be less than that which means she’s only got about maybe 4050 pounds of pressure with one arm obviously because that’s why he did a paper cut on his hand This makes no sense and I pray to God that the justice system does this correctly and this woman that is basically talking all this nonsense in front of everybody in the world. I hope she remembers when she goes to bed at night all of the lies that she literally said to try to get her so-called person off death row, and she knows in her heart that he needs to go to prison for life.
She keeps saying that the officer shows it to her, but she is dead, so how does anybody know that he showed her anything OK this is why police lawyers are so misleading and a lot of these jury people do not understand 100% logic. I wish I was on this case and I would be the front runner and I would explain to all of these jurors. If this was a sting where is the audio and video? Why would he pull out his cell phone to record that makes no sense literally no sense. There are so many inconsistencies to this little story that this prosecutor is saying that is a big joke. Literally a big joke. She is not a good attorney, and I pray that this man goes to jail for the rest of his life, especially because of all of the other women that he took advantage of.
A guilty party always has an opening statement that takes 40 minutes to read
She was pleading for her life while he decided to keep shooting. Idk how they found him not guilty
BUBBA GONNA GET HIM IN THE SHOWER😂😂😂😅
Definitely guilty AF!!
Attorney needs a hairwash
Oh so he’s supposed to wait to be mortally wounded before he uses his gun?
Pull a knife on me when I’m armed and you are gonna lose every time.
Omg the audio is terrifying…
I think this was the longest opening statement from defense that I’ve ever seen. Good gravy
Andrew was trained in self defense he is what 6'2" about 235lbs but like a gorilla against a 5'2" 130lb woman , self defense BS!
The defense attorney is so irritating. I don't think I'll be able to stand watching the remainder of the case when the prosecution rests. She's way too aggressive, a bit like her client.
Sad case , the defense were a 10 out of 10 on opening statement, unless i hear new evidence no way i could convict, she was under arrest and pulled a knife and used it, not good!
The moment he stepped out of vehicle and had her at gunpoint, he was in control and the threat had been minimized. He had an obligation to reasses at that time, he didn't, he just fired. Guilty.
I have no doubt his hand was cut by trying to grab knife, not by her in an effort to stab him.
Pd should know better than anyone the dangers and fears these women face. If this had been a kidnapper etc they would have said she did everything right. No excuse for not being able to have proper id!
I am watching this "retrial," which is shocking in itself; a "retrial" – the "audio" speak volumes; so far, I think he had something else in mind (if you know what I mean), especially the way he parked the undercover car – and in my opinion when she rolled down the window and yelled for help. We heard her say, "Get your hands off of me!" His plan failed, and his "ego" was "BRUISED" – she defended herself (I would have, too, as there was no way out).
Anyone would have questions about whether he was a cop – he knew he had to send a few texts to other officers (supposedly, he needed backup, right? He had the upper hand, was a skilled officer, and his weight alone against her weight was a no brainer) because he knew he was going to kill her- I think he thought he was going to get a service for free – and shot her (overkill).
Interestingly, the retired police officer who took the stand yesterday said she knew him and would not "lie" for him. I would not expect an officer to make such a statement unless she knew him to twist the truth in the past. And I found it most interesting that she could remove his watch or bracelet with blood on it from the CRIME scene and return it to his family -who does that? Why wasn't she questioned about that…hmmm?
I will continue to watch and pray for justice for Miss Castleberry; no matter what work she chose, she was human!â¤ðŸ™Ââ¤ï¸Â
I think we all need to agree that if people don’t break the law commit crimes etc. we really wouldn’t have a need for police now would we?
Let’s not judge a thing regarding anything until we see/ hear the evidence, please
I am rooting for the police officer in this case.
As soon as the defense start speaking I shut it off
All he had to do was get out of the car and keep her locked in until backup came
Can Addi please clarify on Revenge murder trial. If I missed then sorry
How was she supposed to know he was a cop if he didn’t have a badge? That is literally the proof to let citizens know who you are. Maybe not walk around with it but at least somewhere in the car to show when necessary to arrest her. How are we supposed to know the difference. She was asking someone to call the cops, I don’t think she was afraid of getting arrested!
HE IS THE REAL DEAL, HOLLYFIELD 👺 👹👾😈👺👺👺I CAN ONLY PRAY, THIS JERK, MONSTER COP, GETS THE SAME TREATMENT HE GAVE TO POOR DAWN!!!
Hooker no nos
Part 1…Girls ,NEVER get into a car until you do the "Junk Grab" test , a cop wont let you grab his junk, or show you his junk, the lady should demand it.
Part 2. ..Nor will a female sting officer ever get into a car, they will negotiate at the window , give a sign and will not grab your junk., or display a nude breast.the John should demand it.
Junk grabbing is a huge factor in weeding out vice cops…. if you're a John, demand it, if you're a hooker, do it !!!!!
WHAT KIND OF MONSTER IS HE?????
10 bucks he's not married
This is a really unfortunate case, but the facts are not that good for the prosecution. I don't see how any jury can convict. Was he justified to shoot? Maybe not. But can you REASONABLY find this to be self defense? I think so.
WOW little Miss Defense is kinda aggressive- I guess the PERP doesn't fall tp far from the tree
OMW I can't HEAR A WORD been said! What is the problem with the AUDIO?????????????
Looks like an interesting case but not as straightforward as one would think. Yet again policing standards in the US seem to be variable.
Tsk tsk tsk the US and their inept cops..it is ridiculous..they are watching to many crap americans movie!
