A former police officer stands trial for shooting and killing a Black woman in her mother’s home back in October 2019. The question before jurors is whether defendant Aaron Dean‘s actions constituted murder. Authorities said victim Atatiana Jefferson, 28, was at her mother’s home playing video games with her nephew when Dean, then an officer with the Fort Worth Police Department, performed a botched welfare check.
James Smith, who was neighbors with the homeowner Yolanda Carr, told the BBC in a 2020 report that he called police to perform a welfare check after his niece and nephew saw that the lights of her home were on and the front door was open on the early morning of Oct. 12, 2019. He thought that it was strange that Carr’s lawnmower and gardening equipment were plugged in. This was not an emergency call. Smith said he expected an officer to just knock on the door and see if his neighbor was fine. He did not know that Carr was in the hospital for her heart condition. Instead, Carr’s 8-year-old grandson and daughter Atatiana were up playing video games.

Im a law nerd/ lawtube member. Saw the judge with his hair & skin treatments…& other…turned this off.
There are people in power just as bad as, well you know. This left me not caring…I tapped out.
That kid was definitely told what to say, it's very clear and wrong to have him do so in court especially. It was a terrible accident, I don't believe it was the officers fault based on what he was trained to do. If they where trained to announce themselves "police" at a residence then this could have been avoided. He did what he was trained to do
The defense attorney seems arrogant. I assume the jury is from the jurisdiction that this incident happened. He has pointed out that her house was messy several times and he said a smart remark about her house and how they are cleaning up the neighborhood and how her house didn’t look right in the neighborhood being fixed up or something to that effect. I wouldn’t want him representing me. Just my opinion

If she had a gun and was holding it up when he shot her why is he on trial??
That poor dear little boy being interviewed in what can only be described as a box room. No comforting surroundings.. he'd just suffered a traumatic event.. wholly shameful.

This is horrible coverage of this case. The judge should be made aware so he has the opportunity to correct the live coverage.
Now this can tell a different story.
The doors were still open at that time in the morning because Zion was more or less looking after himself,he was cooking and burning his own meal. He opened both doors not his aunty(as if it was her she'd only open the door they used) and they never got closed because Zion fell asleep and she was on Meth.
Their opening statement,Zion fell asleep,he woke and his aunty was still playing games in the early hours of the morning so he joined her.she held the gun up towards the window.
Then on the stand he said he didn't fall asleep and his aunty had the gun at her side
Makes sense why that woman, the judge caught,was coaching Zion from the gallery and kicked her out.
People will say "This man is GIULTY"……well not when you're dealing with EUROPEANS. HE MUST GO TO PRISON IF YOU ARE A RIGHTEOUS PERSON. But unfortunately Europeans are not governed by righteousness but the devil is their god.
Ok… soooo… through the body cam video, it appeared as though her left side was towards the window. The ME is saying the bullet entered on her left & traveled slightly downward. The defense is even saying that means she was turning to her right when shot… which would be AWAY from the window. So how was she pointing her gun AT Dean if she were turning AWAY from him?? 🤔
(Hopefully I'm correct with what I think I saw in the body cam cuz this would strengthen the states case. Right?)

It’s being reported that there is NO COURT Thursday (9th) or Friday (10th). The prosecution has rested their case, and they are giving the defense time to prepare, and court will resume on Monday.
