A former police officer stands trial for shooting and killing a black woman in her mother’s home back in October 2019. The question before jurors is whether defendant Aaron Dean‘s actions constituted murder. Authorities said victim Atatiana Jefferson, 28, was at her mother’s home playing video games with her nephew when Dean, then an officer with the Fort Worth Police Department, performed a botched welfare check.
James Smith, who was neighbors with the homeowner Yolanda Carr, told the BBC in a 2020 report that he called police to perform a welfare check after his niece and nephew saw that the lights of her home were on and the front door was open on the early morning of Oct. 12, 2019. He thought that it was strange that Carr’s lawnmower and gardening equipment were plugged in. This was not an emergency call. Smith said he expected an officer to just knock on the door and see if his neighbor was fine. He did not know that Carr was in the hospital for her heart condition. Instead, Carr’s 8-year-old grandson and daughter Atatiana were up playing video games.

So the judge said no to the defence about going to the car, seems to me that the judge and prosecutor had talked about this.
So she was safe her feeling were hurt so the judge blamed Mata, not the mother. This is disgusting behaviour by the prosecutor and the judge.

Leaving the front door opened while taking care of child at night is something to ponder about to lure someone and then being armed in a back room but didn't call the police when she heard noises almost makes me think that perhaps, she was waiting to ambush if they came through the front door. Having to announce "police" here and there only alerts a suspect to either flee or prepare to be violent. People trusted that police officer up to that point and some saving their skins for accepting him. He counter deadly force with the use of it…late note, it is not uncommon for people to challenge the police as their method of "way out"…………….but we will never know.

The establishment got what the wanted so far.:
1. If found innocent in a summertime trial, Fort Worth would look like Hiroshima, 10:00 am, 6 Aug, 1945
2. Establishment needs guilty verdict to save face and say "see the CJS works, everythings under control." The inuendo here, my oponion only, is now you have to be happy with the mamby-pamby sentence they will give Aaron Dean. The court may rule that Dean be put in a minimum security facility, not a prison, for a period not to exceed six months with Amber Guyger for a roomate.
I hope that the unconstitutional stunt with Mr. Mata sees its way to justice and accountability.
If i were in the jury he would get parole just because of prosecutor’s overplay. I didn’t believe him and Im not sure he believed himself in what he was saying…
